not an occasion when I’m overly happy to say I’m right. I still will of course…

I expect numbers will keep rising until mid August, when they should come down.

From August 16th
the Government are making changes to Test and Trace
less isolating in England,
But that's a long way away.

Home Tests are taking longer than 48hours

Meanwhile, Big Companies
are losing workers who are pinged.

Unite Union
says some Industries will have to temporarily close down
and then Contracts could be lost.

NewsinghtHD BBC2 Report
last night.

if we get up to 100k infections a day, with people going to large events, the numbers being pinged by the app will be crazy.

We will be right back to where we were at the start of the pandemic with essential people in all industries being forced to self isolate. Supermarket deliveries are going to go haywire again. I better stock up on toilet roll quickly

Such faith in people’s compliance bots - I personally think most will happily take the time off work/working from home, but will still make cheeky trips to Tesco

You can see Scottish case rates in the graph below, definitely coming down
now, from a peak that was higher than the main winter pandemic in January.
The fall at the moment seems as quick as the rise at the start of May.

i know people that have been pinged, and they got calls every day to check they were complying. That really pissed them off, so they switched off their phones and said **** it, we are off out. People really don't like that sort of monitoring at all in a free society

I don't have the covid app.
Don't like that kind of close monitoring.
I'm just trying to be careful and wear my mask.

The UK is "not out of the woods yet" and people should act with caution as Covid restrictions in England end on Monday, Prof Chris Whitty has said.

England's chief medical officer warned that Covid hospitalisations were doubling every three weeks and could hit "scary numbers" in future.

Prof Whitty said the pandemic still had a "long way to run in the UK".

Solicitor General Lucy Frazer said while cases will rise, there were "consequences for not opening up".

But she warned: "Of course, if we get into a situation where it is unacceptable and we do need to put back further restrictions, then that of course is something the government will look at."

Default Coronavirus Outbreak

Boris stated explicitly that we “wouldn’t be going back” once they’re fully lifted, even before a date was announced. I fully expect there to be another lockdown as we head into Winter and it will be massively unpopular… and even more so because he made that promise.

they have moved away from that position in recent times. I think when it was the alpha variant it was probably a reasonable expectation that things would be irreversible because we effectively had it beaten, but then delta came along and it all went to poo. No-one could stand up now and seriously say things are irreversible when they are clearly not. I expect social distancing to be re-imposed as law in enclosed spaces within the month

Yeah, a winter lockdown seems pretty likely right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see more variants around by then too
