…Hold the Dark……I don’t really know how to score this or even how to comment because I’m not entirely sure that I understood it or that what I thought it was all about is actually accurate….I was so completely mesmerised and held, though…by a story that I wasn’t sure what the holy heck and what does that mean and …eh..?…it was cold, it was bleak, it was brutal…Russell Core and Riley Keough were excellent…as was Alexander Skarsgård….I know my own thoughts about what I think the meaning was but I have no idea….
…I’m still going to give it a 7/10 and maybe I’ll raise that to an 8 when I work it all out in my head…a completely engrossing watch… |

Jungle Cruise (2021)
very enjoyable, maybe my bias since i am a huge fan of Dwayne's acting skills umm for some reason it also felt like similar to Indiana Jones, certain scenes even the soundtrack very similar great chemistry between Dwayne and Emily, and Jack Whitehall as usual very hilarious storytelling is good either, visuals look fab, great attention of detail towards that WW1 time period 9.5/10

World Trade Centre (Oliver Stone 2006) Nicolas Cage
IMDB only gave it 5.9 but my Leonard Maltin's Movie guide gave it 3.5 stars (4 is the top) so i watched it and it was really good 7.5/10 Last edited by LeatherTrumpet; 04-08-2021 at 11:23 AM. |

…The Swarm (2020 version)….this wasn’t a big Hollywood horror swarming insect type movie and it had a completely different vibe to any of the other swarmings I’ve seen because it didn’t follow that formula for such movies…it’s quite a slow build up movie but I was completely absorbed with it and I found the horror part quite horrific in its own understated way…(…maybe horror fans wouldn’t feel satisfied that there was enough horror but as I’ve said before, I’m quite easily pleased with horror….)…I liked it a lot, it really built wonderfully and kept the attention and the cast were all good….I would say around an 8/10….

Midnight in the Switchgrass - it was watchable but a bit cheesy (odd for the type of film it was) and what was the point of Bruce Willis in it I don't know, boring non character, when he's not doing the main action role it really exposes how bad an actor he is as well 5.5/10

I bought a "Film Noir" 4 movie boxset collection today, will start watching one tonight.
Probably Double Indemnity, which I've heard is one of the best noir movies ever. The other three movies are The Blue Dahlia, This Gun For Hire and The Glass Key. |

Watched Jungle Cruise just for something mindless.
Spent the first half hour thinking it's a poor recreation of Indiana Jones, The Mummy etc those types or movies (even down to a comedy scene with a library ladder). But it got better as it went and I found it quite enjoyable. Jack Whitehall wasn't as annoying, Dwayne Johnson is always reliable and Emily Blunt is obviously great (although I'm finding her voice quite grating lately, she's developed a really irritatingly transatlantic accent that my ears can barely tolerate ). |

My theory is that it's the "celticness" of Scottish combined with the long vowels of Lancs. Last edited by Toy Soldier; 08-08-2021 at 11:45 AM. |

My eldest sounds a lot like her mum around the house but 10x more Scottish when she's out with her friends . A chameleon.
Then again my wife goes full Lancs around her family which is quite amusing. Last edited by Toy Soldier; 08-08-2021 at 11:53 AM. |

…as a general, many children’s accents and inflections are quite changeable, that’s something I’ve found quite a lot through time…it’s all a part of their ‘sponge’ like learning abilities compared to adulthood….I know someone who is Scottish but lives in Spain and has fluent Spanish with a heavy Scottish accent……
