Default Geronimo was clear of TB !

That poor animal, killed for no reason apparently, typical of some humans who think they know everything, feel so sad for his owner and even sadder for him if this is true.

The owner begged them to test him further too.

It's not even shocking at this point, hope at least the idiots who forced this through take heed and do more testing next time. Poor Geronimo.

The government's department are trying to say he had tb like lesions.

That doesn't mean he did have it.
You can have many things that are 'like' something but that doesn't mean they 'are'.

This is really despicable.
Vets, plural, working with his owner state there were no visible lesions.

This is something the government will have to cover up, the likely slaughter of a healthy pet.
It's disgraceful.
Further independent tests should have been done.

It would seem the government wouldn't permit that, so couldn't have then much confidence in the tests of ages ago.

I feel for his owner.
This is absolutely shocking.
She never hid him away from cameras.
Everytime she came on TV, he was there, running around, eating, drinking, not a thing seemed wrong with him.

The government need to be held to account for this.

It's not just an animal as the government may want to think.
It was a valued and loved pet.

They won't care. I just saw it on the news and they are twisting it already.

Some woman was saying they need to do more autopsys because it could take more studying because the marks could be tiny.

So they can't justify more testing while he's alive but once the poor things dead they'll rip him open and closed to do tests. Shock.

Yes its not a surprise the owner was right all along , makes me wonder how many cows are also slaughtered due to thse totally inaccurate tests ! This needs looking at badly. Defra were wrong and they are murderers.

I think they should have done another test but I wouldn't jump to angry conclusions about this yet

Defra are saying TB like legions were present and given he twice tested positive for TB then that all suggests he wasn't entirely 'clear'. Apparently the full post mortem will have taken place by the end of the year

The lady won’t accept anything she is told, watched her on ch5 news.

She has not been told he was clear, she just refuses to accept he could have had it.
All this talk of him being murdered, her not knowing if he choked to death or was strangled, she knows full well he was euthanised and not executed.
The same as he was tortured when they chased him to catch him...she could and should have lead him to the vehicle he was taken away in.
She is more about herself and publicity than she was about her animals safety.

They've said there were POSSIBLE tb lesions.

Possible, is a fair way from probable and a long way from certainty.
A longer time frame, kicks this into the long grass I guess for a time.

How can 2 so called certain positive tests.
In a post mortem examination, slip right down to only being possible.

I never could grasp why the government wouldn't do further independent testing on Geronimo while he was alive.
I'm starting to see why though.
Never be wrong even as to a, I'd say, at least now, probable slaughter of a pet, WRONGLY.

Agree with you about the owner and poor Ger being dragged off when she could have intervened, Smudge, also why didn’t she carry out her own independent test, it’s a very strange case with no one coming out of it looking good

Her own independent testing wouldn't have been accepted as valid by the government.
Since their own department had stated it had it.

That's why she asked, the government, going through the correct channels to do a further and independent test to confirm.

As for the frenzy around the day this poor pet was taken to be killed.
I tried to imagine my own trauma if say it was to take and kill my pet Staffie.

A number of supporters were there hoping to save Geronimo.
The incredible Police vehicles and police presence was in my view, really intimidating in itself.

Sadly, it all got frenzied and I can't imagine the distress the owner must have felt.

When you've tried to go through all the right channels just to get another more independent, not a government dept. test done.

To then see those coming to take your pet, backed up by an, in my view, disproportionate Police presence too.
To have just been ignored by the government..
From the Department, the Minister right up to the Prime Minister too.

I could guess if I was in her place, absolute panic would set in.
I think getting at her while it's said even now from the initial post mortem findings it's only possible he had tb.
Is unfortunate.

She has tirelessly tried to reason with the government on this and got kicked in the teeth by them and then had a Police presence to help.kill her pet, you wouldn't get if you were mugged!!

All for the sake of the government agreeing to an independently done further test.
Which both parties would have had to accept.
As she didn't accept the government dept. test results done before.
Just as the government wouldn't have accepted any result of a test she arranged herself independently either.

So what was she do.
Try to maximise all she could to save her pet when she and others who were vets said the pet showed no signs of having tb.

Or should she just have rolled over and obeyed the government dept. to let perhaps her healthy pet to be slaughtered unnecessarily by said government order.

I know what I would choose to do for my pet.

To Livia and Kazanne.
I adore animals.
As I know you both do too.

This Alpaca wasn't able to say it felt fine, had nothing wrong with it, what could it do to prove that was the case.

It had an owner who clearly loved it and in fact it being a pet really.
She was its voice.

I totally feel for her and the loss she will feel at the slaughter, and that's the word,of her pet.

The whole battle to save Geronimo and the ugly heavy handed seizing of him to end his life.
I've no doubt will haunt her the rest of her life.
As it would me for any animal I had come to love.

Animals have feelings too, as we get to know them more closely, we get a pretty good insight to how they feel too.
So we are their voice.

It's very sad that officialdom closes its ears to that, as in this tragic case.
For what, one more independently done test after the years past since the others.

The only question I would be asking now is what did the government dept. really fear from having an independently done test carried out.
Just even as a precaution matter.

This is obviously terrible, but I'd love to see the Venn diagram of folks up in arms at this, and folks that didn't care about tories voting against feeding kids.

I don't know who has the final say Joey ,I'm not too knowlegable with that sort of stuff, all I know is I am so angry over this ,someone had the chance to stop this and they never and the way he was treated at the end was appauling and shameful,If I was the owner Ide be suing someone.
