Encouraging people to have proper ID is a good thing, most jobs (and benefits) require identification. And if the UK is gonna follow America with voter ID laws, they'll also provide free valid ID, so the only people being limited will be those who don't bother to get it.

Personally I don't think that you should have to have photo ID to vote.
