Was at Tesco last night and when we went past the fuel bit there were only 2 cars there and no queue. And that was only about 6.30pm. On about 2/3 of a tank right now but resisted the urge to top up, I won’t cave to the panic this time . Sticking with the usual system (when gauge hits 1/4 I fill to the top).
I haven’t really seen any signs of panic buying here at all to be honest, other than the Tesco one being out of diesel on Friday evening. |

I think its returning to normal now in our area I see on our Next door app most of the local stations now have fuel after running out at the weekend, feel sorry for anyone who was so low on fuel they HAD to go and sit and wait, but as for the numptys who didn't. well, more fool them
For some reason I filled up to the top last week as we are going away next weekend and I was filling up anyway so thought I may as well fill the tank, and Mr C has enough to last a few days so he said he would chance it and hope it resolves during the week which it will I think

The Government appear to be afraid
to talk about this.? (Alastair Campbell Guest Presenting on GMBHD itv) No Minister on AM TV? Labour only concerned about their Conference. The Labour Leader, not giving Any Interviews until Thursday after his long speech on Weds? Last edited by arista; 28-09-2021 at 06:35 AM. |

If the forecourts had put a limit on the amount that could be bought...that would resolve the issue in no time, instead they put prices up and raked it in

the problem is quite clearly the media, the hauliers association and ultimately panic buyers.
We have had the same number of lorry drivers for months and no particular delivery issues anywhere, then the hauliers and the media decided to stir it up. It's a free country and all that, but there should be some consequences for the media for creating and feeding their own news stories |

The issue is the same as ever; just because there is no overall shortage, doesn't mean there hasn't been a knock-on effect on supply/demand, panic buying at first was needless but once it's snowballed, it's no longer irrational. It *is* difficult to get fuel in some places, because people are buying it all up. When someone who needs to drive for their commute (e.g. my wife is a 40 minute drive to work) and they've just driven past two fuel stations that are out of fuel, you can hardly blame then for filling the tank when they reach the 3rd one.
For us we haven't actually done anything out of the ordinary, we fill 'til the pump clicks every Sunday evening and that's exactly what we did this week, but for people who normally only put in a set amount in £ or fill to half ... ... I can't blame them filling up a bit more than usual at the moment. |
