It should be.

He was an MP for 38 years.

It's shocking anyone should lose their life to being stabbed and brutally murdered.
He was just doing the better part of his job in seeing constituents to see how and if he could help them with problems they had.

Jo Cox was against divisive politics, yet nothing was learned from her brutal murder nor the attempts on other MPs in the last 11 years.

This should be kept at the forefront of the media, hopefully it would alter the attitude of the press to MPs however I won't hold my breath.

The vast majority of MPs do their work as an MP with the fullest conviction and dedication.

To see a family man like David Amess taken away so cruelly and brutally from his loved ones, as Jo Cox was turn away from her family the same way.

We need to be made aware of the pressure of just going about their businesses that MPs face as to dangers.

This tragedy is yet another one that could have easily been avoided by the sound of things

Also I imagined it was a random attack but he actually made an appointment to see the poor guy .

I'm wondering how he got an appointment at the surgery if he wasn't a constituent.

i don't think there is a requirement that someone live in the area to talk to an MP. They may for example be championing a cause not directly related to the constituency. MP's are not exclusive to a constituency.

I still think that after 4 days of constant headlines it's becoming morbid by the press. I can only speak for myself, but I got the message that he was a nice guy on Friday afternoon, I don't need to be told it a further 100 times

Johnson will now make Southend a City
Something MP Amess had wanted for many years.

A great pity it wasn't done when he was here to see it.
Sad it took him being brutally murdered for it to be made a City when it could have been clearly before.

Absolutely right decision.

The Conservatives and Lib Dems didn't stand in Jo Cox's seat at that by election.

It's good to hear the same will be done in Southend too.
