Losing to Tottenham is pretty embarrassing though.

I am really surprised he didn't walk but it might be due to his contract and how it is set out

He'll have got a very nice pay out from it

He can leave feeling pretty pleased with the job he's done though, felt like a lot of people have been willing him to fail the whole time but finishing 12th and 13th in pretty toxic conditions is no disgrace

It's ludicrous how the fans expected more, the squad is at the level they currently are

When you read who is linked to the job that is media speculation it's not from the club

I really doubt the new owners have a clue who to appoint

Inevitable.
I think they just let him have his landmark 1000th game as a manager this last weekend.

He wasnt sacked...change the thread title.

He left by mutual consent, hence the payoff.

he would receive the payoff if he was sacked too, so ....

Mutual consent is the common term these days, but it's still the sack

Nah, I dont agree with that.

Bruce loves newcastle more than the job, and will have told them hes ready to go. So they will have agreed, and that will have been mutual.

I cant see them dragging him into an office to sack him, not sure about decapitation for the pizza oven, but they wouldnt have humiliated him by sacking such a true gent of a man.

Bruce would have made the decision for them a week ago.

I agree.

Even after the game on Sunday, he had no intention of going if he could stay.
He said until he was told otherwise, he'd be there for training from Monday onwards.

Clearly he got to hear the otherwise.
He had to go.

That is just PR speak.

But you are wrong, he didnt have to go. He was the perfect man for the relegation struggle before the club was bought out buy the super wealthy who make the last owner look like phil Neville in an england top. No way did he have to go. Ten players have to go, and new ones have to come in. That's what has to go, him having to go was just a roll on effect from the original have to go, because to get ten players in, you need someone who can get good flair players in.

But that's the mistake, cause the relegation battle is the immediate priority, and bruce was the man for that.

Then, of course. He would have been sacked for keeping them up or failing to. But he would still have been the man for the job. So I do disagree thay he had to go.

all mutual consent means is that as part of the payoff they agree not to bad mouth each other ... it's nothing more than that, it is still officially terminating employment. If Bruce had resigned, there would have been no pay off

Nah..

The pay off was a gift for his effort, and probably amounts to how much he could have made if he had kept them up and went into next season with them.

Ole mind you...
That will be a sacking, disguised as mutual.consent.
