There is a genuine fear of being perceived as racist in official offices (including the police, councils etc.) and it is leading to huge problems. Of course, this stems from the fact that there have been abundant clear examples of actual racism and discrimination in the past in pretty much all of these places, which makes it a rather complicated tightrope to walk. Generally it’s not that they don’t want to act - and most would be happy to act once someone gets the ball rolling - but no one wants to be that person.

Sorry, but if you know and don't speak up about rape of young girls, or anybody for that matter, then you have no excuse. The tax payers pay the authorities to do their jobs, not turn a blind eye for personal reasons.

I agree personally but it's classic "bystander apathy" - everyone expects someone else to do something and then it gets out of hand and they start acting to protect their own life/career/reputation. But yes I agree that when people get into jobs like law enforcement they should do it knowing that it's not going to be easy and with a commitment to doing the right thing. Unfortunately though that's not always the case.

Just to let you know that in the last few years a man was sent to prison for putting a rasher of bacon on a building (he died in prison) and a man was put in prison for having a slash next to a war memorial. That's some of the justice that has been handed out in our country lately.

Kevin Crehan was his name. He got sent down for 12 months and died in prison. Not sure if he was murdered or just died naturally, but he died.

I googled the story, he was jailed for tying bacon to the door handles and shouting racist abuse at the elderly church goers, he was a convicted football hooligan which is presumably why he got a custodial sentence. He died of a drug over dose and it was not treated as a suspicious death

There's no silence. As far as I can see, personally Ive said plenty on this topic on various threads in the past.
The excuse given for not revealing the extent of the proper as I remember was 'community cohesion', Which I found disgusting.
It allowed the rot to spread and let down the most vulnerable in society, I have spoke before on how children in care and those living in poverty are preyed on by many to exploit and authorities essentially turn a blind eye.
I'm not sure how that relates to the socialist left.

I had a look at this one, he was jailed as it was the last of a long line of convictions mostly for football violence, he was let down badly by the prison system though, he overdosed in prison


The judge said he was jailing Crehan because the offence was the latest in a long list of previous convictions, mainly for football-related violence.

I think he means the cultural left rather than the economic left so really he means "the liberal left" rather than socialist left... obviously socialism has nothing at all to do with this.

It's difficult to argue that liberalism doesn't come into the equation though. Objectively speaking there IS a sub-cultural element to these grooming gangs (namely, underlying attitudes and ideas about white girls and women that can be prominent in young Asian men) but there's a push to deny or not acknowledge that aspect for fear of being seen as racist, or similarly to the Trans debate, out of fear that acknowledging things that are exploited by actual bigots and racists is "adding fuel to the fire" or somehow aligning with those more extreme views.

if there had been less hesitancy to say "Yes, there are worrying views and attitudes propagating in these communities that need to be addressed" then these gangs might well have been identified and dismantled far earlier.
