Default Ava White: Liverpool murder arrests after girl, 12, dies

4 underage boys arrested.

[A 12-year-old girl has died after
suffering "catastrophic injuries" during
an argument in a city centre.

Ava White was with friends in
Liverpool when she was assaulted
at 20:40 GMT on Thursday.

Merseyside Police previously said
she had been stabbed but later said a
post-mortem examination would be
carried out to establish the cause of death.

Four teenage boys, aged between 13 and 15 and
from Toxteth, have been arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Officers found Ava collapsed on the ground
on Church Alley shortly after the city's
Christmas lights switch-on took place.

A member of the public,
who had witnessed the incident,
was giving her first aid, police said.
Ava, who attended Notre Dame
Catholic College in Everton,
was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital
with critical injuries but died a short time later.

"We believe that Ava and her friends
had been involved in a verbal argument
which culminated in Ava being assaulted,
causing catastrophic injuries,"
Assistant Chief Constable Jon Roy said.

"We understand that the offenders
were then seen to run up School Lane
across Hanover Street and on to Fleet Street."]

Shocking.

While I agree it's a bit young to be out alone in the evening with friends (especially in the winter months) ... if I was assigning parental blame I think I'd be more inclined to blame the parents of the other gang of kids, who were also out on the streets ... but carrying knives, and willing to use them on 12 year olds.

Indeed, I don’t think 8.40 is that late to be out if you are in a group and going to something family orientated like switching on Christmas lights, what the hell are these kids walking around with knives for ...

the number of murders is getting worse and worse.

I was thinking back to when i was a kid and a murder warranted an extra edition of the newspaper. How times change

Yes that is so wrong.
The Evil lads (aged 13 to 15)
had weapons.

[One of the four boys arrested is aged 13, two are 14 and one is 15.]

RIP

Seriously why are there 13-14 year olds carrying knives outside? Especially to use on a 12 year old? They're clearly being failed somewhere in their lives to think that this is perfectly okay.

A 12 year old should be able to go watch the Christmas lights turned on in their home town/City without this happening to them.

The parents of the little scum bags are the bad guys here for raising monsters.

You stop this by making an example of the parents and guardians of these monsters, by giving them the sentence for murder. It'll start to teach parents to make sure their children know right from wrong.

So many lives get destroyed and changed forever from a single incedent like this. It's not on.

Only we the people can make the change, first we have to come together.

Have to agree with Alf, a 12 year old is more than capable and able to go to a light switching on. Would a 14 year old be ok? And If so if they were the victims instead, then are we allowed to blame the preparaters?

Also, are 12 year old boys ok to watch the lights or is it only the girls who are to blame for getting themselves killed?

100%..like Bobbi Ann..women should be able to sit at a bus stop at 6pm without fear of being abducted

8.40 is not late to be out with a group of friends

I can't even imagine kids of my generation in the place I grew up doing something like this. Don't get me wrong, there's always bullies and arseholes about, but stabbing someone, especially a boy stabbing a girl is unthinkable to me.

It's time to stamp this mentality and behavior out before it festers and becomes the norm.

What has actually changed in our society to think murdering someone is ok? I know murder has been has always been happening but it was isolated to certain people doing the crime now it seems like everyone and their dog is going out with the intent to murder

I'm no scientist but in my opinion it's bad parenting. I'm not a parent myself so I don't know what parenting is like in these times
and how different it is, I can only go off my own parents and the way they raised myself and my siblings. I understand the World has changed since I was a kid, but it doesn't seem for the better.

If my dad ever found out I was bullying anyone, I'd have got a good bollocking and put in my place, and I wouldn't have done it again.

If I'd have hit a girl he would have humiliated me and branded me a coward. I learnt those lessons from my dad from a young age in primary school. I love and respect my old man for teaching me those life lessons.

He also showed lots of love and kindness, he was a great dad, still is.

I have to agree with the parenting point .

Too many parents simply have no idea who their kids are hanging out with , where their kids are or what they’re getting up to .

There's far more broken families these days then there used to be. I come from a broken family myself as my parents divorced just as I became a teen, I was lucky enough to have decent morals from a young age that kept me in good stead, but I also lived through what a broken family can do to children.

I'm not judging anyone for that, because it is the way it is, and the ease divorce laws came in, but I think it can play a part. As a teen I was always jealous of some of my friends who came from strong family units, and missed out on those great times, I also had great friends who came from broken families too, so it doesn't mean they can't function, I just know from experience that it can be damaging sometimes to a child.

They need to make an example of him and put him away for 20 years or so .

Seems harsh maybe but we have to stamp this kind of thing out fast imho

It seems like everybody wants to be "edgy" nowadays and say that they've killed someone.

I don’t know if it’s truly that common (everyone probably doesn’t want to be that edgy) but I hear you.

Either way it’s tragic for Ava’s family.
