Gusts across Southern Ireland over the next few hours will be over 70mph, likely over
80mph in some places. Strongest winds coming into Wales and SW England this afternoon
and evening.

The storm has undergone explosive cyclogenesis in the last 24 hrs (over 50mbs )

In all seriousness though there were quite a few powercuts/telecoms outages around here with the storm a few weeks back, so if Niamh does vanish it may well be that (rather than having been blown out into the Atlantic )
