Default COVID scenario

So I was meant to be having about 6 people from work over to my house next Sunday in the evening, we’d have the kitchen to ourselves as my family would have gone upstairs.

My mum is now saying no to doing it because of covid but she’s happy for me to get on transport and go into to London for a night out instead of having my 6 friends from work round.

My argument is that having them round to the house in one room would be far safer than travelling into town for a night out and pose a far less risk of covid.

What do you guys think? Which is safer?

I personally feel like your idea is safer.

The gettogether is the best scenario.

Six people, who you could actually even if just to make your Mum happy and give her peace of mind, ask to do a test before they come is obviously much safer in terms of catching this than being around the hundreds and hundreds of randomers in close proximity in London and on the transport going/returning.

When you get your own place then you can make those decisions for yourself, until that time then your mother has the right to decide what happens in her house. You should respect her decision.

Can you not change venue to one of your work colleagues homes instead?

I understand your Mum is worried, but could you put her mind at rest by asking everyone to do a lateral flow test on the day..?

Small groups are safe enough tbh

Given you are at home you can space out as well and open a window so far safer than meeting in a pub

Id get 6 tests and make them do it before coming in (ie wait 20 mins outside) that way you will know for sure they have done a test
