Older members and volunteers always help in elections.
Regardless of the candidates age.

He's not going to be Prime Minister or in a high profile political position??

Plus he's past his mid 20s.
He's hardly just out of school.
He's only about 3 years younger than me in fact.

It's possible the Lib Dems may.
It depends on which voters band up behind the one more likely to win this strong Con seat.

I still think the Con candidate will win it.

Yes it could be a late night race
between Conservative and LibDem.

Losing such a "safe" seat, I wonder if a vote of no confidence is coming for BoJo. The backbenchers have been stirring for a while from what I hear, and that's who makes up the 1922 Committee...

Sorry if this has been discussed, but why was it the Lib Dems who were being bolstered as the replacement instead of Labour? I mean, obviously it worked as she won I read that some would-be Labours revolted because a well-liked candidate was deselected?

This seat is NEVER going to be a Labour seat
It used to be in the main the Lib Dems as challengers really.

You aren't going to get Con votes here going to Labour.

The Lib Dems do seem to be regaining some trust in strong Con areas, after the rout of the Lib Dems post the coalition.

Labour votes, many of them, went tactically to the Lib Dems to get the Cons out.
It made perfect sense to do so.

This happening across the Country would see the Cons well beaten in a future election.

Labour carried out a lower key campaign.
I repeat there never has likely been a chance of and there never will be a Labour MP for North Shropshire..
It was right for Labour voters to support the Lib Dem.
Because in this seat, the Con votes that would change were always more likely to go to the Lib Dems.
So a good result.

Yes, it's a by election on under a half of voters turnout.
So this could return to the Cons in the next election.

Although the size of the new majority, 6,000, was unexpected.
I thought the Cons would hold on.
I never saw this result coming in this Con massive stronghold.

I support and was pleased to see Labour voters in a seat they can't ever win, putting their support to the party who could beat the Cons by taking the Con votes too.

It's unfortunate this kind of thing doesn't happen across the board actually.

Many Conservatives
thought this would happen for this seat.

LibDems are Dreaming
they will not take UK power in 2024

Hopefully it will send a message out to the Tories, they need to sort themselves out.
