Lucky old Fella
can get back with his Dog [A US man has become the first person in the world to get a heart transplant from a genetically-modified pig. David Bennett, 57, is doing well three days after the experimental seven-hour procedure in Baltimore, doctors say. The transplant was considered the last hope of saving Mr Bennett's life, though it is not yet clear what his long-term chances of survival are. "It was either die or do this transplant," Mr Bennett explained a day before the surgery. "I know it's a shot in the dark, but it's my last choice," he said. Doctors at the University of Maryland Medical Center were granted a special dispensation by the US medical regulator to carry out the procedure, on the basis that Mr Bennett would otherwise have died.] I guess, if it was me I would stay off eating Bacon for respect to my new heart etc https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-59944889 4 weeks before Last edited by arista; 11-01-2022 at 05:18 AM. |

Sadly she will be kidnapped from her mother at a few weeks old by ‘scientists’ who will rip her open to steal her heart and place in a selfish human who has had 50 years walking freely Humans really are heartless |

Yes, we just basically kill anything we feel we can, steal their organs flesh and skin, nothing as dangerous than humans.

You say that but I wonder if push came to shove would you really? What if your brother or sister or mother or father were going to to die unless they got a Pig heart, would you be telling them to take it or saying they shouldn't because of the Pig?

Fair play to you glib,Im also a veggie and dont think I would want a pigs heart either, it doesnt belong to me, and enough animals are killed for us already, i do understand that people have different opinions on it and each to their own, just not for me.

Once this gains a bit more publicity I’m sure it will have the same stigma as having a fur coat or snakeskin handbag

It definitely won't, not when it's for medical reasons rather than fashion

I was gonna say the reasoning for this one makes it less black and white versus wearing animal fur.

BBC report on the controversy
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-59951264 ‘ In 1984, doctors in California tried to save a baby girl's life by giving her the heart of a baboon, but she died 21 days later’ ‘ unethical, dangerous, and a tremendous waste of resources’ ‘ Some campaigners have concerns regarding the unknown long-term effects of genetic modification on the pig's health.’ |

where does one draw the line, should a guide dog not be used as an aid to a blind person, should the world be banned from keeping pets?
Lots of moral arguments that could be used concerning animals, but there is no way they will happen |
