This is a media tactic, focus on the one person that they know the public won't support, this feeds into the narrative that the whole protest is not worthy of support. We do it all the time.

If someone at the protest Pisses on a war memorial or defaces a roadsign then that will be the focus and the cause for the thousands of genuine peaceful protesters will be forgotten.
