All media call out politicians who lie....as you well know. Right now the highest ranking among them has been caught out.....again. You think that shouldn't be front page news? What else is he lying about?

So you think he should bare faced lie? What basis of a Government is that?

Weird

This would have been over and done with now had he done just that and owned it. Now he looks far more duplicitous

But that's just it...it wouldn't have been over. He should have put his hands up but people would still want him out.
Its all been blown up well out of proportion...there's a war going on...and all we can talk about is getting Boris thrown out of office for having a few drinks with work collegues after having worked with them all day tackling Covid. It pales into insignificance when there are atrocities going on in the world...
its all a bit pathetic imo.

Also Annie I never have condoned lying...most politicians are hypocrites and liars.

Chilcot: Tony Blair was not 'straight with the nation' over Iraq war

"Chilcot’s report, published in July last year, found that the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein posed “no imminent threat” at the time of the invasion of his country in 2003, and the war was fought on the basis of “flawed” intelligence. It found that the cabinet’s decision to invade was made in circumstances that were “far from satisfactory”.

this rather big fib led to rathger a lot of death

Not sure why you're showing me that....its been well known for years that Blair's lies sent us to a war that never needed to happen He was in every paper at the time once those lies were uncovered

I can only assume you're highlighting that as you think I'm a labour supporter? I have never shared my political affiliations in here, nor would I ever. I can however, say that I think Boris is a liar and not fit for office right now

It's really quite an odd stance to take to insist that the PM shouldn't be held to higher standards than other politicians... And that politicians in general should t be held to higher standards than a shelf stacker at Aldi. "Loads of folk were doing it!" as an excuse for the people in charge of the entire country doing it is just... completely ridiculous...

It's a poor distraction technique. Look how many years Blair has been out of office ,the man is old and grey now yet people continue to bring up his failures now , nobody will ever forget the war in Iraq and how it was the worst idea . But some would rather dwell on that Instead of admitting Boris is a useless lying sack of crap. Funny how Boris gets forgiven no matter what he does.

Labour get dragged into everything ,even though the conservatives are the ones destroying this country at the moment and have been for the past 12 or so years.

You were citing Boris lies as something special and unique and I was just reminding you that every PM is full of lies and TB's one was pretty impactful

Boris' lies are impactful & will continue to be ,yet he'll be forgiven and let off. Stop bringing up Blair's disaster. Boris is the one currently in office, not Blair ,not Corbyn
and not Brown .

Where was I citing it as unique or special? I pointed out some of his lies. I never said that it was in anyway special or unheard of. I said he will be scrutinised as he is the current highest ranking.

I'm not a child LT, I know politicians lie....I have seen a fair few come and go so please don't patronise me please.

YOu said in relation to all PM'S lying:

"Why, who else went to lie to the Queen to pororgue parliament? Who else has broken ministerial code by repeatedly lying to parliament on the issue when asked directly?"

ie making out that this was somehow different?

or am i missing the point

Which other PM prorogued parliament by lying to the Queen which was found to be unlawful?

Which other serving PM has been investigated by the Police.

You're right....his lies are fairly unique actually unless you can tell me different?

Doesn't mean I don't know other Politicians and PMs have lied with some pretty dire consequences but neither does that mean that Boris' lies can be justified

"They all do it so we shouldn't be surprised or bothered when the current one does it" is a pretty bleak race to the bottom in terms of accountability.

Cliche motto "ahhhh all politicians lie oh well" . So basically let's just shake our heads and giggle and say " awww Boris what's he like eh " . As he continues to never be held accountable for his actions.

He probably will be held accountable at the next elections…if people want him to pay for his actions then that’s the time to do it.
Personally I think Boris has done well as a Prime Minister…he has had to deal with a lot in his leadership. He has made mistakes…but until I can see someone who can do a better job he will continue to get my vote.

No Boris isn't like ' anyone else ' , his fine won't exactly break his levee.... compared to someone living off food banks ,and not knowing if they'll be able to afford their gas & electricity bill for the month.
