[Protesters have marched over fears HS2
works could affect water supplies.] [Colne Valley Viaduct, the UK's longest railway bridge, will carry the new high-speed rail line for 2.1m (3.4km) across a series of lakes and waterways on the north west outskirts of London. Protesters in Uxbridge called on Hillingdon Council to do more to protect the local environment. A HS2 spokesperson said they will work throughout construction to manage risks.] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-60273651 There is No Proof the Water is in danger/ Last edited by arista; 05-02-2022 at 05:50 PM. |

Worse Now I want Starmer to tell us his plan for HS2. [Let’s not forget the current iteration of HS2 goes absolutely nowhere useful. No Euston. No Birmingham New Street. But from a glorified bus shelter in West London to an inconvenient location in Birmingham. The time anyone saves from “high speed” travel will be more than eaten into getting to the respective city centres. People will question why they didn’t just use the West Coast Main Line or Chiltern Line in the first place.] Taken from Greg Smith in the Telegraph. Last edited by arista; 16-07-2023 at 10:51 AM. |

Both Labour and Conservative
will not confirm it will go to Manchester. This is because of lack of Funds Debate on BBC2HD Politics Live |

we shouldn't continue to pump money into a project we cannot afford. Just suspend it until we reach a point where it becomes feasible again. I don't know whats so terrible about that
