It’s spread via bodily fluids and you are actually at more risk of a few STI’s from non-vaginal sex, as there are natural protections against the transfer of pathogens that aren’t present otherwise.
The same as with HIV really - it’s not that you CAN’T get HIV from heterosexual sex, but it is less likely, which is why it tore through the gay community in the 80’s. Although these days the biggest risk of HIV infection is actually Intravenous drug use/needle sharing so drug users (who inject) are the main “at risk community” now.
