Yeah, it’s split into thirds like THG books the first two were great but it’s final one is dragging a tad

Justice Alternatives by Pat Carlen, I'm studying... but actually, it's very engaging for a text book.

[Sorry to bump a thread after 6 months of inactivity] but...

I'm currently listening (audiobook) to Jack Kerouac's On the Road for the first time and for someone who has such wanderlust and desire to get out there, travel and see America in particular this book just makes my heart full. Those descriptions of the dusty, desert roads and box cars with towns sailing by... Ugh!

Especially in the current climate, it's nice to sit back and imagine being out there.

Currently one hour in of a massive nine hours and I'm already just loving it.

I've read two books lately, Ring by Koji Suzuki and Penpal by Dathan Auerbach.

It was interesting to read the original Ring, which felt a lot more science fiction-esque than the ghost stories of the films, but I did have a massive issue with it that really prevented me from enjoying it.
Spoiler:

in the original book, instead of a reporter and her ex-husband investigating the tape, it's a reporter and a friend from school and his friend, it turns out, is a serial rapist that gloats about his crimes to the main character and the main character does nothing about it, in fact at one point, he invites the bastard into the home he shares with his wife and daughter and it's just repugnant. THEN, when the rapist dies, we get forcefed a redemption arc where we get told he lied about raping women because he was a virgin and he ends up saving the day and I'm just nonplussed by the whole thing. It's annoying because it completely ruined the book for me when the core story and it's differences to the story we all know are quite fascinating. Like, there's no ghosts coming out of the TV this time, Sadako/Samara doesn't actually appear at all, and everything that happens has nothing to do with ghosts but her psychic powers going out of control in death.

Penpal was better and had some straight up eerie moments that have stuck with me, but the writing is so formal, stiff and long winded that the author somehow made a 200 page book feel too long, which is a real shame because the story itself is excellent, but the writing is just.... frigid.

The guy from the band Mumford and Sons (Marshall I think is name is) read a book recently, he praised the author on Twitter. You should see the vile abuse he got for liking a book.

I'm not really reading it, I just said it because I'm a troll and I need to live up to that title.

I just read something about it the other day, that Mein Kampf is available to buy on Ebay while Some Dr Suess books are no longer available.

Chaos Seeds First Book, The Land: Founding.

It won't appeal to everyone, but I've personally liked the first few chapters that I've read so far.

If we can count Manga I am currently reading Doron Dororon.

I know that it's not doing very well commercially, but I think that it's really fun.

And in particular Dora and Kusanagi have a good dynamic imo.

I'm also waiting for the translation of the 41st Volume of Berserk.

I've started reading Salem's Lot yesterday.

I've only read two chapters so far, but they've been interesting in an odd way so far.

Just finished :

The Girl You Lost. It was a very good read although I predicted a lot of the ending (not all)

Just Started :

The Game You Played, not sure what the fascination with missing kids books is atm maybe it's an algorithm thing because I'm listening to these on Audible This one is pretty interesting so far

The Running Grave. This is my favourite series, this might be my favourite one of them yet as well, I'm about 3/4's of the way through it
