No to Rishi the backstabber for me.
So if I had to chose, then Truss I suppose. Give her a chance.
I wanted Kemi.

they are only a disaster to non conservatives, and lets face it, this forum isn't noted for it's tory support. Having thought about it a bit, i think it will be business as usual by October/November with a GE next summer and onward from there

Nah, sorry that's way too general a comment.

My family were much more Con voters in the past.
I leaned to them until I was 20 then found my more socialist beliefs.

However there are still family who have remained strongly Con.
Mainly Cousins.

3 of whom live with their immediate families in the Southampton area in a Con seat.
Romsey and Southampton North.

ALL of them wanted a cleaner start and are dismayed at these 2 left now.
They hold both of these in part responsible for Johnson's disastrous PM period.

I'm sure they are far from the only Con supporters normally, who feel that way too.

They've already now decided that they will be voting Lib Dem in whenever the next election does come.
Seeing these 2 only of enablers of blatant abuses of power by Johnson.

These 3 have never voted anything else but Con in elections.
So while it's only 3, I accept. ( known so far).
I'd guess a lot more families are thinking on those lines too.

So it's not at all only NON Cons who see these 2 and this leadership contest as a disaster at all.

For myself, I'll cheer these new votes to the Lib Dems in that particular seat.
I'd hope more and more Con voters follow too.
Plus to Labour voters there, I'd hope they back the Lib Dems there too.
Help wrench that seat away from the Cons.

Which I think will happen in hoards of other seats too.

the problem is that the lib dems are not credible. So while some folk may use them as a protest vote, battle lines will again be formed between labour and the tories and then all bets are off. I think it will be a more balanced parliament come the next election, but i certainly think it's unlikely in the medium term that the tories will be slaughtered at an election

I'd sooner have literally anyone else from the final five than either of those two.

That will much more than likely increase inflation.

Rising inflation and tax cuts do nothing to help the most vulnerable and sick and disabled, who don't pay tax.

So no, her plans seem at best risky and at worst dangerous.
So she doesn't impress me one tiny bit.

I prefer being honest, Sunak intending to get inflation down and then looking at tax cuts.

The Lib Dems in 2005 and 2010 in general elections did considerable damage to the Cons.
Winning 62 and 57 seats in those elections.
Unfortunately they then used the votes won from those seat gains from the Cons, to put them back in anyway.

Cons will hope that all Con voters will just now accept these 2 enablers of wrongdoing in government.
All Con voters not still horrified at the scandals and deceit and lies and these 2 covering it up too publicly.

I've no doubt around 30%+ of voters are going to stick with ANY Con leader and party.

I'm not bothered about the Cons being slaughtered at the next election.
All I want and hope for is THEM turfed OUT.
With every other party elected to Westminster, ( apart from the pathetic DUP), if it's needed to ensure they are OUT.

"A cut of income tax"

A Cut on Energy bills
is the better action

I don't think we can reliably predict what truss will do in any given situation, Sunak will be much more predictable. So, what it will come down to is do people prefer stability or unpredictability

That speech was a disasterclass but it was also 8 years ago. She can still be very awkward but has improved since then as well. She'd probably do well to embrace that side of her like May did in the end with her dancing etc. which actually ended up making her a lot more popular

i actually can't stand the way Rishi communicates with the hand gestures. He has obviously been on a course, it looks completely unnatural to me
