The RTL 4 programme 'De Verraders', by the Dutch producer of 'Wie is de Mol?', will soon cross the border. The show has been sold to the American commercial broadcaster NBC and the British public broadcaster BBC, it was announced today.

In the Dutch version of De Verraders, eighteen BN'ers/celebs try to get a treasure. Among them were three traitors who wanted to keep the loot to themselves. Each episode they 'kill' a fellow candidate and try to mislead the other stalwarts. Also, each episode banishes the candidate who the rest thinks is the most suspicious and then reveals his or her role. The big difference with Who is the Mole? is that viewers know from the beginning who is lying about their role.

The first season, which was won by Samantha Steenwijk and Chatilla van Grinsven, was viewed relatively well earlier this year. Each episode tuned around 1.5 million people to the program. A second season of the program has now been announced. RTL announced today that there will also be a Videoland version of De Verraders this winter. This is presented by Art Rooijakkers and can be seen from December.

this is a great light entertainment show (but still also nice for people who like shows like Big Brother, The Mole, those who like good bit of drama)


the ''traitors'' get pointed at by the host at the beginning with a tap on their shoulder, everyone having their eyes closed



so the ''faithfuls'' have their chance at unmasking, eliminating traitors/suspects at a round table council each evening (after a challenge during the day) but if they get it wrong, that would mean you still have 3 traitors amongst you who must then at midnight decide who they ''kill'' remove from the game next



so this is also based on ''Werewolves'' or the more popular online game now ''among us''

good thing they leave it up to same producers from The Circle US, their casting director is amazing and the game ideas in that are everytime very good fun

last friday April 1st was episode 1

well again very interesting start

the first traitors are

they had a dinner gala at another castle as part of the first challenge with a secret challenge as well

they had to speak in public, just saying randomly things for 5 minutes each

afterwards they had to give tokens to whom they trust the least: the one with the most tokens was Stella whom is trusted the least by the majority


secret challenge was for the 3 traitors, how they had to unnoticed sit next to each during the dinner, which was a success and they won 2 kilos of silver, total of silver now 8 kilos (6 kilos from beginning before arriving at the castle in the train, every contestant was in the correct train coach with their profile photo)


it ended with Stefano, Jamie, Ortál having to ''murder'' the first faithful of the series

the choices for traitors

Stefano is a real villain and i love his facial expressions to go with it as well, could go straight in a horror movie

Ortal, don't know her but she seems a strong choice for traitor

Jamie, the weakest link by far in the traitors, doesn't strike me as a smart player tbh



but what is also funny, how certain candidates think this is similar to survivor to form alliances while you make yourself more of a target if you become more and more popular and being able to convince people of targetting that person as a possible traitor

The Traitors is a new reality competition series built on strategy and suspicion, filmed in the Scottish Highlands. A team of players will compete in a series of missions, the more missions they win, the bigger the prize pot.

However, amongst the players lie the ‘Traitors’. The Traitors will meet in secret and decide who to eliminate from their fellow players known as a ‘Faithful’. The aim of the Traitors is to stay undetected until the end of the game.

Whilst trying to avoid being eliminated, the Faithfuls must figure out who is a Traitor and vote them out so they can take the prize money for themselves. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they are in with a chance of taking home the cash prize. Throughout the season, there will be twists, turns and surprises for the players.

That’s before an air date has even been revealed for the debut episodes of the intense psychological game in which players have to complete tasks while working out who they can trust.

A TV insider said: “Rumours are Beeb bosses are so impressed with the finished product they’ve already got wheels in motion with the production company.

“And host Claudia has also been blown away by the experience of making the 12-parter, so is likely to return to front the new season too.

“It’s unusual for executives to be so excited by a programme that they take this step. It’s certainly a vote of confidence in the format.”

Traitors, which could air as early as this autumn, sees the players work together to complete spectacular physical and mental missions.

If they are successful, they add money to a prize pot which is worth up to £120,000.

But to win the cash, players must survive to the end of the game – they must avoid being ‘murdered’ or ‘banished’.

And central to the process is Claudia selecting a handful of the contestants to be the traitors who really stir things up along the way.

The format is based on the Dutch version of the show which Claudia said she: “Couldn’t stop watching.”

She added: “The fact that the BBC version is set in a castle in Scotland and the producers want me to wear tweed meant I was all in.”

I think she’d better get her tweeds dusted off again.
