I always think those cowards should protest the things they're actually protesting about - blockade places like... cruel halal and Kosher slaughter houses; car production plants; ungreen power stations... Downing Street or the Houses of Parliament...

The purpose of protest is to inconvenience and disrupt as many people as possible. Tucked away in a factory abattoir car park doesn't reach the same level of news, even though all of those places have also been protested at different times.

You can agree or disagree, but calling them cowards for putting themselves in harms way to protest for a cause they believe in (and for which all of us stand to benefit), is nothing like cowardice.

I agree with all that really.

It's hard to see as you say how effective protests on causes can be without some disruption

Even moreso when authority and governments take no notice of more peaceful demonstration.
So often the only way to grab any real media attention is to disrupt .

Okay, maybe "cowards" was a bit harsh

I get your point about them being as mainstream as possible, but blocking main roads etc isn't something I can get behind, especially as one of the repercussions seems to be people not minding when anti-protest laws are put in place....

The protest’s don’t actually work
Holding up the people that would actually support them is just backwards

White van man doesn’t have any power it’s some one flying in a private jet that has a say it what goes on.

The way I see it and for me it does depend on what the protests are about.
However I'd join in if it was a cause I really believed in.
Because the governnents we get presently don't listen to petitions or peaceful protesting.
Neither do most Companies or authorities either.

So while I dont agree with violent protesting I can see a need for more effective protest action to highlight the issue.

I do know people who would be infuriated at being inconvenienced by protesters .
However even some of those would accept some protests are for things that are really wrong.

So getting it on the media will at least inform about the issue as well as attracting negativity to the protesters and campaigners themselves.
So in effect in a good part mission accomplished.

Of course IF we ever again get a decent and listening government, Council or other authority.
Then peaceful protesting would then be much more likely possibly.

I say block them all...block all london roads.

People need to wake up to the harm we are doing. These thugs wont scare off the protestors, like I said in another thread last week. They have big plans, and wont stop until jailed.

I don't think that you should be arrested for protesting peacefully imo.

However protesters should have the common decency to not block off Ambulances or Firefighters from saving lives.

I’d respect the climate change protesters more if they were protesting in a country like China who are seriously damaging the planet and are making zero attempts to make changes ..

Our contribution to the pollution is minuscule compared to China , USA , India Russia or Japan
