The song festival is a initiative of 13 Dutch regional broadcasters to raise interest within minority dialects and languages. The broadcasters are the following: Omrop Fryslân (Friesland), RTV Noord (Groningen), RTV Drenthe (Drenthe), RTV Oost (Overijssel), Omroep Gelderland (Gelderland), RTV Utrecht (Utrecht), Omroep Flevoland (Flevoland), NH (Noord-Holland), Rijnmond (Zuid-Holland), Omroep West (Zuid-Holland), Omroep Zeeland (Zeeland), Omroep Brabant (Noord-Brabant) and L1 (Limburg)

basically to give minority dialects and languages a bigger stage to shine


and no, turkish isn't allowed even if there are many turks living here and neither is arabic even though we have syrians, moroccans living here

Limburg info on their selection final

On Saturday 4 November, all regional broadcasters will organize the first Region Song Contest. L1 is looking for the singing talent of Limburg for this. Maybe you are!

Trust your talent, sign up via the registration form at the bottom of this page and send your song (as .wav) via WeTransfer to regiosongfestival@l1.nl. All music genres can participate! From 4 September we will search for the Limburg entry through preliminaries, which can be followed live via the program Hithapen on L1 Radio.

The final is on September 8 and we know who can participate on behalf of our province in the very first edition of the Region Song Contest on Saturday November 4 in Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, which can be followed live on L1 TV and all other regional broadcasters in the Netherlands.

Abtin Salem is a Flevolands Ed Sheeran and Kleurenblind is a real catchy earwurm bop



Gelderland with Alex, similar to Boudewijn de Groot's style, also a bit same as Rob de Nijs, very real relatable lyrics, about a train ride



Zeeland's entry is similar to any song by their most famous band Blof, in a good way, very nice pop-rock sound

anyway if there'll be a second edition, it'll be in Limburg and likely in Maastricht (as the MECC was one of the shortlisted venues for the intended 2020 (ultimately 2021 due to covid) hosting job up against Rotterdam's Ahoy)



small budget wise, not a too bad hosting job from the 13 provinces/regions, also pretty neat produced postcards/intro videos for each province their act
