She has left the SNP

Hardly a slick move.
She was likely to be deselected as the MP for that seat and for the SNP for the next election. By her apparent misguided judgement, she has I'd say certainly deselected herself as MP for that seat now by the bizarre choice she made. |

She still would have continued until the next election. However she is now never going to continue as an MP under the Con banner in that seat nor probably any other up there if she was even to be offered one. Last edited by joeysteele; 13-10-2023 at 10:53 AM. |

The SNP are going to lose seats at the next election, if the tories are in 2nd place in that constituency then it will have been a smart move. We need to remember that there is a pretty even split of tory and labour in 2nd place in seats in scotland

Labour 2nd. SNP around 26,000 votes. Labour around 13,000 votes. Cons around 12,000 votes. It's been an SNP/ Labour seat from its creation. Cons usually 3rd and even in 4th too. Last edited by joeysteele; 13-10-2023 at 11:08 AM. |

Plus as we keep getting told across the UK 2019 was a disastrous election for Labour. I doubt they'll like her being a Con at all now. Near 40,000 voted against the Cons there even in 2019. We'll see of course but I think I'd be dreaming wildly to think that seat will ever be either SNP or Labour. Personal votes in Scotland aren't that meaningful. Many really good Labour MPs of very long standing and being very popular too, saw their previous strong votes switch to the SNP in 2015. Never to the Cons. I think she'll find she's OUT anyway at the next election in a likely big way too. That's not to say in future elections IF she stays with the Cons that is, she may possibly get the chance in another seat for them. Last edited by joeysteele; 13-10-2023 at 12:15 PM. |
