[Police open fire after alleged threats
by woman on Paris train
Incident comes as France is on
heightened anti-terror alert
after a recent fatal school stabbing.


A police source told the Associated Press
they opened fire after the woman failed
to respond to their warnings.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said the
woman had threatened to blow herself up,
AFP reported. Police fired one shot,
inflicting a life-threatening injury.
The woman is being treated for her
injuries in a Paris hospital.
Prosecutors said police had launched two
investigations. One would consider
the woman’s actions,
while another was to
determine whether
the police’s use of a firearm
was justified.
