there is obviously a difference between caring about the plight of innocent civilians in gazza and supporting hamas, and that's why, up until now at least, demonstrations have been allowed to proceed with minimal arrests. Where it becomes problematic is if the demonstrations become aggressive, violent or destructive or if they end up being antisemitic hate mobs.
We all know large demonstrations can be infiltrated by extremist organisations, it's happened plenty times in the past. If speakers at rally's incite racial hatred then they should be arrested, plain and simple It may seem like a complicated collection of considerations, but it really isn't and is easy enough to identify Last edited by bots; 05-11-2023 at 06:16 AM. |

As you know, it was I who said that about your dragging in your Jewish friends to a conversation as some kind of proof that you could never, ever say anything anti-Semitic. Dangerous words indeed... when people imagine that claiming Jewish friends gives them some kind of pass to express themselves as if they had some inside knowledge. Aren't your Jewish friends scared? I can tell you most of the Jews I know are kind of nervous, at the very least, about how things are going to pan out. I'm pretty sure you're not anti-Semitic. I'm also pretty sure that you're not 100% clear on what anti-Semitism is. I will be at the Cenotaph next Sunday as I am every year, with my late first husband's friends. If people touch the cenotaph they'd better hope the police get to them first. |

does anyone really think this is all going to be contained into a march every weekend? I don't. There is going to be some trigger point that sets it wild

yep its nothing to do with Palestine, have the thickos researched if this particular McDonalds is a franchise or not? They just enjoy getting their likes on social media, just like the knobs ' who took Charing Cross Station' they are playing at politics and would run a mile if they had to actually go and fight

That's weird no one seemed bothered by the Bud Light boycott, or the backlash against any of the other brand/product caught up in the trans debate
.Another case of whatever happens to suit on the day I guess. Angry boycotts and brand backlash can be either "quite right" or "hate filled thickos" depending on whether or not one happens to agree with the basis for the backlash. It's fascinating stuff. Note: I'm not condoning their behaviour I just find it tough to watch people suddenly condemning the sort of mob-rabble behaviour they've been celebrating in another context for years . It's either moronic and wrong or it isn't.

Remembering Kerry
|
Quote:
Many of my family will be at the Cenotaph and other memorials too across the UK as I will be too. Uncles of mine were lost in the 2nd world war. We remember them even though I myself didn't know them. No one has a monopoly on that. So I need no lectures on that. I am fully aware of what real antisemitism is. I abhor it and always will. Ever since it was first explained to me by my Grandparents and Parents. Then all I learned myself about it. However people using antisemitism wild accusations against those who don't agree with all of the Israeli government's actions. That's not antisemitism. Just because people have been appalled at both the Hamas evil act of October 7th and endless many more before that against Israeli citizens. Then too are appalled at all what is going on now by Israel. That is not antisemitism. That is simply not agreeing with the full response from Israel still continuing 4 weeks on. While still fully against Hamas and their evil acts. Which are not the ordinary Palestinian people's fault. I have endlessly defended Israel and still do. I cannot begin to imagine the fear and insecurity of being in that region for Israel. Facing so many evil terrorist groups. I am conflicted however by the slaughter of the ordinary Palestinians.by Israel. However Israel must be supported in getting rid of Hamas. I have never altered my view on that. I actually think the so called allies of Israel, the UK included, have failed to really set out an at least more secure plan for the 2 Nation hope. Not kept that process going with real determination. Thereby leaving the insecurities in place and failing both Isrseli citizens and Palestinian citizens who also want a lasting peace. Incitive and divisive rhetoric plus firing wild accusations of antisemitism to others who in no way are. None of that will help ease any rising tensions of both sides. As a footnote Livia, since you asked. The Jewish families who I know are concerned yes. Some of the members of those families however, have been since Benjamin Natanyahu was elected again. They don't trust him. You may well dismiss that, however I have come across those from both Jewish and Palestinian identity working jointly for and hoping for a coming together and not more division rising. It really should be a disgrace for the world. Particularly for me as to the USA, the UK and Europe. Who like to stick their nose into Middle East conflicts. That after all this time there is still no lasting settlement of this issue between Israel and Palestine and some peace in place. Now as to yourself Livia. I do and have bowed a lot to your knowledge of that area. As I've never been. I know you care deeply. There are many times in past years on here when you have reinforced my own view of Israel. Plus have guided me on it too many times. I always have acknowledged that. I always respect the gaining of knowledge from someone who knows that area of the Middle East like yourself. Your first lines are strong and I wish it wasn't so that any British Jews should be fearing anything in the UK I have no doubt you are right. Other than discussions and learning from you on here in the past. Plus yes, my own from childhood Jewish friends . I also engaged a lot with a superb Jewish Doctor as a teen and into my early 20s who had been connected to the board of deputies in the past. Sadly he died in 2019 aged 92. A brilliant and wise man. Who I learned so much from too. I just think Israel, and Palestine have been failed by the World . With 2 entrenched hostile feelings between those ,2 Nations They are unlikely to solve this issue alone So called allies need to work more tirelessly to help any peace process between Israel and Palestine. Certainly and no doubt, Hamas has to be got rid of. Plus other terrorist groups who would still seek to threaten any kind of peace between Israel and Palestine. My apologies for this being so long. I read your response to me. With interest because it's important to you is this issue. I've tried in my usual long delivery way to put my own feelings and points on this desperately sad situation now raging in that area of the Middle East. Thank you for your response. The thing about the McDonalds boycott is that this can happen in any city or town so any family anywhere can be abused for going for a burger, its not something that will be confined to London and can cause issues anywhere even from high perches in Scotland
