…I read an article that posed the possibility of the UK becoming a cashless society within a few decades…I don’t know if it will happen but there are some interesting pro and con/type articles on it all…anyway, Charles looks very pleased with his new bank/cash note images…

There was a situation in Leitrim just before Christmas where the power was knocked out by a freak tornedo and the shops could only take cash for 3 days what would happen in that instance if the only facility was card payment .... I don't think I need to read any pros and cons its pretty obvious relying solely on tech in any situation is not a good idea in my opinion anyway

Some people use it as a budgeting tool, they take out a set amount for a week so they know what they are spending

there does need to be a backup to electronic money. If Russia set off an EMP bomb in the north sea, it would kill every active electronic device in the area. There are lots of less serious scenarios where electronics are affected, so we do need something

My post is with reference to the term cash is king

Years ago having cash to pay for something in full on the spot gave you areal advantage over those needing to get finance or pay cash over a long period .

Now in some cases like at a car auction I use sometimes, you are actually charged for paying with cash .

Banks have done everything in their powers too stop any real interaction with customers - try calling one or visiting one

to give them full control of money would be madness

Not to be morbid, but is there really any point at this point? The possibility of it all having to be changed again within the next year or two is very high, it’s just all a massive waste of money

i bought 2 cars at car auctions where they insisted on cash payment. I had to go to the bank after winning the bid and request a special withdrawal at the bank

Now, you can't pay in cash due to money laundering rules

The only cost involved is someone has to physically take it to the bank

No, that would be a health and safety issue and security risk
They have to use a third party to transport the money
It’s a big company average price of a car or van sold is at least 1500

It soon adds up to an amount to large for some one to take to the bank
