So happy about Ireland’s result, it deserved to be higher, but they did amazing, the song really grew on me the more I listened to it

He'll just be fine Zizu.
He'll go and party and be genuinely pleased for the winner and runner up.

I actually had the thought, after the juries vote
His song Dizzy, the title Dizzy, that the staging for Nemo and Switzerland being spun around would have been more appropriate.

At least there's no announcement to come on the news that the UK has come LAST AGAIN in Eurovision.

That's an improvement in itself apart from the whatever happened re.Sam Ryder in 2022.

What I think IS politically very telling is that Switzerland won. Internationally synonymous with neutrality and both jury and public were all over it. Fascinating sociology there.

I'd have liked to see Ireland get it too.
I'm glad it did so well.

The zero points from the tele votes was expected but slightly unjust, but we can’t just keep sending basic, average pop songs you could hear any day on the radio, next year we should actually take a risk and do something completely out of the box like Ireland did this year, what we’re sending is very obviously just not standing out in the fields of risky, original songs

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some high profile resignations from EBU in the coming weeks after this trainwreck

I personally don't like the trend of countries sending established acts and celebrities, in my view that was never really the point! I feel the same way about loreen last year - I liked the song and on the face of it it was the winning entry, but having previous winners compete again isnt interesting at all .

I normally agree with this completely, because it does make for pretty boring results when the winner is obvious right from the off, but thank god Loreen was there last year so that other idiot didn’t win

it was meant to be a way of discovering new talent across europe, then the uk decided they wanted to win it so sent along Cliff Richard, Lulu and Sandi Shaw, to name 3 well established artists at the time. So i don't blame other countries for sending along top talent now

[Britain's Olly Alexander, whose high-octane performance
of Dizzy was marred by sound issues,
scored only 46 from the juries and 'nul points'
from the public.]

Typical

Yeeeah but the best of Eurovision (in my opinionion) is when relative unknowns are discovered. Like I think locally-known acts are OK too but if they already have Europe-wide fame it seems a bit outside what the show in the modern era has been about.

Sound issues is a crap excuse, it was a boring low-energy song and no amount of dry humping was going to fix that.

Judging purely on the night, this would be my personal rankings.

1. Croatia - I even voted for it, which I rarely ever do on Eurovision.
2. Switzerland - Despite the Juries blatant rigging, the song is very good tbf.
3. Ireland
4. Ukraine - I do like the singer's voice from this entry.
5. Norway - It's a shame that they came last, like Germany last year they've been harshly placed imo. They were better than a lot of the other songs I feel.
6. Estonia
7. Finland
8. Serbia
9. Slovenia
10. Latvia
11. Israel
12. Austria - It was a catchy number tbf, even if her style of Music was oversaturated this year.
13. Germany
14. Armenia
15. UK
16. Lithuania
17. France
18. Cyprus
19. Spain
20. Luxembourg
21. Georgia
22. Italy
23. Sweden -
24. Portugal -
25. Greece - Absolutely atrocious imo.

Obviously they all really gave it their best, which is commendable.

I do wish that the line-up didn't have so many of the female singers singing the exact same type of Music though.

Tbf I would agree with you that Austria had a catchy number.

And imo along with Slovenia and Norway's entries this year, I'd say among the more attractive contestants of the line-up.

Nearly typical.
We are usually sniffing around the bottom 3 only and sometimes not getting any points at all.

This was a vast improvement on last year even when it was held in the UK.

Politics does play a part in the voting though.
It seems contributing to our poor results, that the UKs image isn't improving around the World.

I haven't a clue what will help the UK at Eurovision.
At least we haven't the cost of staging it next year plus all the unrest of probably more demonstrations.
Especially if nothing is near sorted in the Israel/Gaza conflict.
