…it isn’t the reason why many surgeries are empty of ‘face to face’ contact and actively avoid it…/…but just opt for handing out medication to patients that have sometimes never been met…that just makes no sense at all to link to the pandemic…if it was all or mostly pandemic related then there would have been some signs of ‘rebuilding’ over the last few years….but time is just seeing more and more determination of some areas of a health service, for many…the pandemic isn’t a reason, it’s an excuse…as the saying goes…

GP surgeries were already under severe pressure prior to covid. Surgeries just couldn't recruit enough full time doctors. Indeed most still only work a couple of days a week. This leads to all sorts of issues not least of which is patient continuity. They also tended to use senior doctors as a reference point because they were forced to take on doctors with less and less experience.

That situation hasn't improved to my understanding, so not only is it next to impossible to get "your" doctor, the chances are that "your" doctor may not be knowledgeable in the ailment you have.

If you have an ailment that requires a consultant, it's then another lottery unless they have already identified that you have a critical illness

…I think one of the local surgery/GP areas that has suffered usually over time and well, is lost now…is GP home visits for those elderly or less mobile …although, even being able to get to their local surgery wouldn’t make those face to face appointments more available…it is an eyebrow raising thing of confusion though when you frequently attend a surgery reception only to see it either empty or virtually empty…not just once or occasionally…but every time, without exception…

…anyway, I’m a bit ‘anti’ this morning for sure because yesterday I had a GP phone call booked…?…it wasn’t something that I booked, it was something that the surgery requested regarding some test results…long story, short…after being told some quite upsetting and alarming stuff…it seems, the GP …(…who I have never met or had any contact with, ever…)…was literally reading off the wrong sheet and it wasn’t my details that he had in front of him…I was being given information based on another person…but that continued to be an error from them contacting me and requesting the phone call…and he hadn’t picked up on it…a by the by also is that he was 5 hours later than the scheduled time he gave me to give me this alarming false information….

I have a very low opinion of GP surgeries. It took me 3 months and a lot of shouting to get a doctor i actually felt was trustworthy. That's just not good enough

Hospital staff, i am full of praise for, but i think that has a lot to do with my ailment getting priority care

…yeah, I absolutely agree that it’s not all areas, I’ve had some amazing hospital care through serious times…but then, the staff mindset is completely different in that you very much always feel as though they’re talking to you personally/rather than just being ticked off a list or aiming for a quota, you know…

…but as I said, it’s the more elderly people that I really feel for because they just feel worthless and that’s not the life experience that they have had of GP’s and of their community surgery…

I must be the only one that dreads looking at my messages.
The surgery can’t seem to get enough of me, messaging me or ringing me.
Blood tests, queries re different medication etc.
I haven’t been to the surgery since the first covid jabs, but I know if I ring up the surgery they are always very helpful.
I am prone to different infections, even though I am on antibiotics for life.
If I get in touch with the surgery a doctor will ring me back and send a link for pics to be sent so they can arrange different meds or let me know if they will be coming out to see me.
I get all and any jabs I need done at home, blood tests from home as well.
Weekly physio for over a year until I requested a break from it. Lovely lady came out last week to do my diabetic foot check.
I am not unaware that there are so many people out there that do have difficulty to see a doctor or to receive treatment for serious illnesses but our area seems to fair better than others.

We have an excellent GP surgery and also are looking at houses currently - and genuinely, one of our major considerations when looking at houses is the worry of moving GP practices. Because others in the area are abysmal and ours is unusually good by any standard, let alone today's standards, in terms of contactability, appointment availability and staff expertise.

But that's really quite dystopian when you think about it - house-buying options being influenced by worrying about the ability to access half-decent primary healthcare. It should not be that way .

…and there are those who say that it’s the immigrants, coming over here/taking our healthcare……when it’s actually smudgie taking it all……I’m really very pleased that you’re being well cared for and that GP surgery procedures etc, work for some and you being one of those …..there are a few small practises in this area that are very much more ‘for the patient’, it seems to be the smaller ones, the larger health centres aren’t so good, sadly…
