It probably not for the best that we have it on here, and it obviously puts some people off it, but it is tricky to say we are going to disallow it and drawing the line is tricky.

I am pleasantly surprised that the forum has kept going, even when Big Brother wasn't on, and when it came back others returned. Also when I think about it the friendships and community that have been created over the entire history of the forum is something to be proud of I think.

Another thing is people might not be aware of is all the drama that has gone on over the years, not just in the last few. Ridiculous stuff in some cases.

.
I'm not really taking about political posts, I'm talking about the stream of abuse thrown at minority communities on a near continual basis. If anyone goes into a political thread and gets upset because of political name calling, then that's on them (to an extent), but if I'm a new member just browsing the forum, and I see a constant stream of black people are stabby stabby, or Muslims just want to blow everyone up, or this country lets in the trash, then that's on the site.

I feel it's partly because of long standing forum rules. As another example. lets say Ammi calls me a clown and got an infraction for it, but lets say she calls me that because every single one of my posts were about black fathers being absent, then surely Ammi is in the right? I feel there's a disconnect between what's really harmful for the reputation of the site (the bigotry), and what the site perceives as harmful - bit of stupid name calling.

I don't think anyone has left the site (although I could be wrong and stand corrected) because they didn't like how the left/right were being spoken about in the political section, but I know lots have left the site because of how their personal minority communities have been spoken about, and the tacit approval provided by TIBBS failure to address these issues.

…I don’t think that there is any longer term member here… (other than smudgie…)…that hasn’t gone through pro TiBB and anti TiBB times…sometimes we’ve loved it/ sometimes not so much and we’ve all moaned and groaned and griped and then groaned some more…it’s good that we haven’t had all of the worse times at the same time…but we somehow haven’t and here we still are…

This is the truth. For as long as I've been here (15 years bloody hell ) People have been complaining that this time is the worst of times and looking back with rose tinted glasses at times gone by. As others have pointed out, Forums are a dying breed, BB was cancelled for years, the fact that the forum is still going is an achievement in itself and James doesn't get enough credit

I remember when Tibb was all fields, as far as the eye could see

And you could leave your door open

There was always a Mod patrolling every thread and if you stepped out of line you got a thick ear

Now there are hardly any Mods and the ones that are are stuck in an office with mountains of paperwork with rainbow lanyards and soya tea

I guess Serious Debates gets too much at times, and the threads about that certain ginger bloke and his American wife are literally hard work But there are so many little fun pockets of the forum. Chats and Games, Movies, Music, Sports are all great. Zizu driving me mad in the football threads is great too

Where are they all then? Why aren’t they engaging? Posting etc.

People have literally been driven away from this forum and no one can deny that. That is a fact. A hard fact no one seems to want to admit.

The usual post I'd expect from you, Tibb bashing as per. It's what you thrive on. Very sad.

What would you say is your number one issue that you'd like to see fixed on the Forum?

I'm asking this because I am genuinely curious as to how to try and get:

1. Members to return.

2. How to possibly attract new members.

I think that it's worthwhile taking your opinion onboard, as you're a member that is disillusioned with the Forum.

I don’t think there is anything to be done. If two new series of Big Brother hasn’t done it I don’t know what will. The forum is filled with members constantly sniping at each other, there’s bullying that goes unpunished, language used that would instantly get you permabanned a few years back.

It’s a very different tone on this forum now. And it’s not very welcoming. Not welcoming at all

Fair enough @Glenn.

I do wonder if some of us could maybe express our opinions in a different way to the way that some of us are currently doing it?

I'm all for people having their own opinions, but I know that some of us can be very blunt or forthright with our views, which might be seen as a bit much to some people? Especially lurkers who don't know any of us from Adam.
