Quand il pleut, il pleut

….putting something/anything onto social media seems a bit like skimming a pebble on the pond and watching the ripples spread out …it only has to be said/posted and it takes traction and it becomes ‘truth’…but the worrying and toxic thing as well…when it’s become that ‘truth’…it can hold total and unshakeable belief for some …words have such power in the world of today…and any falsehood can equally hold that power…

Poor Shoe Zone Store
they already have had to cut their amount of stores to stay afloat. [In Hull, a Shoezone was pictured with smashed windows and a raging fire inside] |

The manchester one was yesterday, it happened after the black man through a lit flare at the protestors. He gave as good as he got, but people were yelling kill him, kill him as the fight ensued. It was all very unsavoury.

There were 4 protests/marches in Manchester yesterday....it was a nightmare waiting to happen. Coupled with people day drinking in the sunshine there was always going to be trouble.

However in this present time now where blatant misinformation is becoming rife So it's hard to work out what is truth and what isn't Where reason is now totally out the window even when the information is proved to be wrong, that people like these dangerous idiotic criminal morons, still just go ahead with their own disruptive and civil unrest agenda. Then I think it is time, that social media is looked into more. Rooting out sites and organisations who permit support of these ugly and violent louts. Where their agenda is pedalled by armchair support too. The Olympics have our citizens working themselves ragged to represent and give a good account of the UK Then you have these mindless idiots here with the Union Jacks and St George's flags showing the rotten side of ugly voices of hate from a minority in the UK. Causing deliberate damage, instilling fear in communities and even looting too. How is that an agenda to claim to be proud of. On social media though that can reach the public at large, anyone advocating support for these repulsive extremists are not really any better than those causing the damage on the streets. Something needs to be looked at. I've been talking to neighbours who are appalled at these actions based on total lies originally circulated.. Although the older ones say that in the 70s and 8Os there was much worse than this from football hooligans causing violence and damage in cities. That many places were no go areas when certain football matches were played. The government could do more but to get more heavy handed could aggravate the situation more. Leading politicians are never really on holiday, Cameron really wasn't just on holiday in 2011 when things were far worse. They are kept fully informed and dealt with situations while away. The Home secretary has this as her brief. The Police who are upholders of the law, have been given full support to do all that's necessary. IF, all powers forbid, things get much worse, then of course then it could be time to recall parliament and leading politicians to return to base. It's interesting thus far, that the opposition Parties aren't yet calling for a return of parliament. Only Priti Patel has indicated that I think. So hopefully these mindless morons who are an insult to the whole of the rest of the UK. Will get fed up of getting nowhere and nothing but condemnation for their criminal actions. Will end up looking for other ugly things from their twisted minds to move on to. Certainly though now in my opinion all public sites have a duty to ensure misinformation is NOT posted on their sites.. Especially ones that may help incite hate. Plus too anyone posting on public sites who indicate support for this civil unrest, hate and violence should be seen as toxic as these thuggish idiots no matter from what sources these rioters represent or come from. Things are getting more dangerous and really concerning that lies and misinformation can be presented as truth on social media. Generally too from other sources. It's near terrifying that people are left not knowing what to believe that they are being told. That really needs sorting out, in LAW. Last edited by joeysteele; 04-08-2024 at 08:12 AM. |

The ‘community cohesion’ concept explains confusing police tactics
Merseyside police were very keen to rule out the Southport attack as ‘terrorism-related’. This was despite subsequent remarks from the Home Office that counter-terrorism police were still assisting the investigation. That muddled explanation will fall on deaf ears. Whether this turns out to be an act encompassed within the dry legalistic definition of terrorism, the dead are still dead. Why are the police in the firing line this weekend? Why have they not been more forthcoming originally on details? Could a quicker reaction have dampened the riots we have seen over the past few days? One reason that the police strategy looks so baffling could be Merseyside’s concern that nebulous ‘community cohesion’ must be protected at all costs. Was it a flawed calculation? Did the police decide that releasing too many details would inflame tensions in communities that had previous incidents characterised by ethnicity and religion? If that’s the case, the recent mayhem suggests that strategy is flawed. The video of the police response to disorder at Manchester airport, the attack on a senior Army officer, disorder in Leeds and Whitechapel all have distinct features of ethnicity and religion. Concern and anger about the policing of these events surely swelled the massive demonstration in London last Saturday led by Tommy Robinson. Accusations of political policing of protest where the intensity of enforcement is greater if the protestor is white, now a meme in itself – ‘two-tier Keir’ have been viewed on social media well over a million times. We are always encouraged to seek the much safer narrative ground of compassion and concern for victims and survivors – an entreaty made with depressing regularity. But is this sufficient to quell increasing feelings of public rage? Clearly not. Sir Keir Starmer’s high profile meeting with chief constables and the sombre press conference afterwards has not done enough to quell people’s fears. A national strategy to disrupt far-right extremism is a necessary but insufficient response to violence on the streets that encompasses other forms of extremism, influenced by religion and hard-left sentiment. The threat of Islamist extremist terrorism, for example, dwarfs extreme right capability. This is a time of social ferment that makes radicalisation more likely. A strong defence of the rule of law against all forms of extremist violence would have been better and could have reduced the temperature more. Whatever Axel Rudakubana’s trial reveals, and he is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, Southport was an act of domestic extremism of almost unparalleled ferocity in the last ten years. The sundered bodies of little children and those adults who we are told bravely tried to defend them holds a unique grasp on the psyche. The horror has been exploited online with powerful imagery conjured up by AI to paint ‘British’ children at the mercy of knife wielding Muslim maniacs. There is no evidence the knifeman is a Muslim, but we ought to know all the facts about the background of the alleged perpetrator as soon as possible. Further dithering will be exploited by those who want to break community cohesion as a conspiracy. But here we are again. A more agile, assertive, even-handed and transparent approach to the truth by the authorities is the only thing available to counter such propaganda. It is nowhere to be seen. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/why-we-need-transparency-from-the-police/ |
