if the damp towel falls into the pan of hot oil it will flash-boil and the oil will spray everywhere possibly igniting if there's an ignition source but definitely melting your skin off if it gets all over you which is likely if you were close enough to throw the wet dish cloth. For a general pan fire or even a frying-pan fire it's probably fine but definitely not a deep pan of hot oil/fat. ![]() Genuinely though everyone should have a fire blanket & small powder fire extinguisher, they're cheap and they can save your life ![]() |
