I'm gonna go the centrist route and say "it depends on the film" I wouldn't like or dislike a film for being emotion-fodder.

That said, I'm a sucker for emotions - sappy music, corny dialogue, it all pulls at the coal-strings !

Depends. I'm more of a car chase, shoot-em-up, zombie death kinda gal. I don't mind a bit of schmaltz but not much.

Really it depends on how I'm feeling at the time.
I love a wide variety of films, across the board.

As to getting emotional while watching them, yes I can very much so.

True story films can hit the most.
There is however one actress who can have me really lifted and happy in her performances, or feeling sad, or getting angry at the character she's playing.
Many of her characters and performances have admittedly brought tears.
From many decades ago and way, way before I was even born.
Bette Davis, in The Old Maid, A Stolen Life, Now Voyager, Dark Victory.and All About Eve.

It does depend on the story though a lot of the time but those kind of films can hit me hardest.

…I wouldn’t say that I was particularly drawn to emotional/tearjerking movies but I’m fine with that element in the movie, so long as the story/characters have strength also….as Joey said, true stories are often adapted because they do have that emotional attachment so it’s an intrinsic and essential part of them …I’ve loved Grave of the Fireflies because of the strength of the story and the relationship of the characters but it’s an incredibly emotional and absolutely a tearjerker…I loved Steel Magnolias because of the characters, which have many moments of ‘easing’ so much of the emotion and sadness of the plot…I loved PS I Love You because I love the two lead characters…hated, hated, hated My Sister’s Keeper, though because the only emotion was sadness from the first scene to the last…

If it's a true story yes. I've just seen Nuovo Cinema Paradiso after a long time. I couldn't stop crying.

Im not drawn to emotional films but I do get upset when I watch them. Schindler’s List and Warhorse are two films I remember being upset when watching them. They are both great films but just so sad to watch.

The most moving experience I ever had in the cinema was when I saw Schindler's List. Usually people start to leave as soon as the credits start rolling, but not this time. No one moved... it was very emotional to experience people's reaction to such a brilliant, terrible, heartbreaking film.

A film that always gets to me too is, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas.
It really hits hard.

There's hundreds though really.

Now Voyager and All about Eve are great films. Not seen the other three.

Another great Bette Davis film is "The Little Foxes' and obviously "Whatever happened to baby Jane" is a classic.

That scene was really tense.
Joan Crawford was incredible in that film too.

Apparently I've 4 more of her films coming at Christmas .
One of my Brothers has found them, so that's a Christmas gift I am looking forward to.

Actually I've just watched one which isn't a tearjerker but rather funny.
The Man Who Came To Dinner.
It's quite manic but a humour that appeals to me.

I don’t mind a good tearjerker.
But then I can cry at adverts and the news.

I’m not usually emotional but I get caught off guard sometimes at stupid things. I shed a tear at Drop Dead Fred when she had to say goodbye to him for good.
