A man who worked to the end
[Radio presenter Johnnie Walker has died at the age of 79, two months after calling time on his 58-year career because of ill health. DJ Bob Harris, who took over BBC Radio 2's Sounds of the 70s show after Walker's retirement, announced his former colleague's death live on the station on Tuesday.] 8 mins ago Last edited by arista; 31-12-2024 at 03:19 PM. |

Very sad and shocking. I know he only left Radio 2 a few weeks ago or something.
But I didn't expect him to die. RIP. ![]() He was a radio legend like Tony Blackburn and David Hamilton who are both still working. |

Johnnie Walker’s final radio broadcast was two months ago.
His final words: “Walk into the future with our heads held high, and happiness in our hearts.” |
