watching the video. if the wall wasnt in the way they probably would have just slowed down to a stop without turning into a fire ball.

Who puts a wall at the end of a runway.

Terrible tragedy. That's 3 in the last month? Why do I feel like this is somehow related to the drones issue. Probably not but there was also an incident in Canada

Also the landing was bad, did a quick read about landing without a landing gear

"During a belly landing, there is normally extensive damage to the airplane. Belly landings carry the risk that the aircraft may flip over, disintegrate, or catch fire if it lands too fast or too hard. Extreme precision is needed to ensure that the plane lands as straight and level as possible while maintaining enough airspeed to maintain control. Strong crosswinds, low visibility, damage to the airplane, or unresponsive instruments or controls greatly increase the danger of performing a belly landing. Belly landings are one of the most common types of aircraft accidents nevertheless, and are normally not fatal if executed carefully."

The plane wasnt straight, its nose was in the air. meaning the plane wasnt slowing down at all.

Wonder if this was pilot error. seems like he didnt know how to land safely wihtout a landing gear.

The pilots had a good 10 seconds of knowing they were about to die

Indication of electrical fault in 'perplexing crash', aviation expert suggests

"This is one of the most perplexing crashes I have ever seen. Nothing about it makes any sense," aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas tells the BBC.

Speaking from Perth, he notes that while a bird strike may have played a role, once the pilot issued a mayday call the air traffic control data cut out.

The sudden loss of data - which allows the flights to be tracked - "indicates an electrical fault of some kind", Thomas suggests.

Following the call, the plane was also allowed to land in the opposite direction to usual.

But the wheels were up, the flaps not set correctly and it landed halfway down the runway before careering into the localiser and exploding, he says.

Thomas says there are workarounds if an electrical or hydraulic problem arises, but these were not used.

"It just doesn’t make any sense. We're going to have to wait for voice recorder details before we can get a handle on what on earth went on."

yes birds can get sucked into the engines, that has happened before, with Sullenberger's iconic hudson landing

also if a hydraulic problem, could be because the pilots forgot to shut down the flaming engine, in case of a bird strike and a engine fire, you need to cut it off from the hydraulic fluid, otherwise the engine won't work and yet it still drains away precious fluids from your hydraulic systems

same goes for electrical systems, they are run by a battery, which in turn is also powered by hydraulic fluid

the plane also didn't have its thrust reverser in the deployed position

the ''brick wall'' was just a building, past the end of the runway

i wonder if this plane was that doomed they couldn't do a TOGA (since this was clearly a plane not in a proper landing mode, so unless they had no other options, going around would've bought them more time to troubleshoot the problem and to try to get the landing gear down)

Presumably the two crew who survived were at the back of the plane ( were they hang out mid flight ) ?

Other experts said that even if one engine failed, the second engine should have been able to supply power to lower the landing gear.
yes true, if one engine fails, the other engine should be well capable to supply power for the landing gear

also belly landings can work, but they usually work better on the water, not on a concrete runway, so what were these guys even thinking

it did have the correct nose up position for that type of landing, so there was some form of hydraulic, electrical power

Not enough space to slow down

It hit the Brick wall while still going FAST

Angry Locals shouted at the Police in the Airport,

As only 5 dead bodies were released.

The Police Man in charge
said their bodies are destroyed
in the heat of the crash.

They will have to be reassemble
bit by bit of bodies

a bird strike in one engine doesn't explain why the landing gear couldn't be deployed

but we'll know more soon, the black boxes are now in the US, with the NTSB

Some former BA pilot suggested that the Pilot thought the wrong engine was damaged and that warnings were not taken on board during the panic
