[The president of Poland, Andrzej Duda,
has repeated his call for the US to base
nuclear weapons on Polish soil.
In the presidential palace in Warsaw, he told me
that it would make Poland stronger and safer,
as it faces Russia.

Viewed from Poland, President Putin's Russia is a clear
and a present danger.
President Duda, who is also commander-in-chief
of the rapidly expanding Polish armed forces,
said today's Russia is at least as aggressive
as the former Soviet Union.

He condemned what he called Moscow's
imperial greed.
Positioning US nuclear weapons in Poland
would be viewed by President Putin
as a provocation.
But President Duda views the proposal
as a defensive measure to
strengthen deterrence.
He said it would be a response to
President Putin's 2023 decision
to deploy Russian tactical nuclear weapons
in Belarus, which has a border with
Poland and Ukraine.

Now that russia has all but had its war machine wiped out, it's not in any way capable of matching the combined strength of europe. It hasn't had anything all that much more than the nukes since the Cold War. They've had numbers, both in troops and in literal volume of ordinance, but they haven't kept up the same pace of tech as the West. Comparing "how many of X, Y, Z each has" is largely meaningless when a massive chunk of Russia's equipment is outdated to the point of being almost-obsolete.

Zelensky's country was invaded by a foreign power. Thousands of people have been killed or injured. Entire communities have been bombed out of their homes. Thousands of children have been forcibly taken to Russia and placed with Russian families. How is all that okay with you? Do you like the Russian Eurovision entry or something?
