Not ban cats entirely, potential restrictions on outdoor activity for cats. Australia for example has this in place in many areas; you can have a cat, it just has to stay indoors, or in secure enclosed areas if they're allowed outdoors.

It's actually because they kill the weird critters that only exist in Australia. Bit of an odd place really, biodiversity-wise. I'd let the cats take root, personally, but woke wildlife type folks would rather have the strange Aussie insects and rodents thrive than let the cats kill them.
