Default A question for our Scottish members.
So Ness and I want to come to Glasgow for two nights in early September. Midweek. Will be a Tuesday and a Wednesday. Travel home on Thursday.

I know there's a 2 day travel pass, well we think so. We'd like to include a side trip to Edinburgh so what we want to know is what's the cheapest way to do it all, is there one ticket to do everything covered or separately? Thank you.

Glasgow Edinburgh return for the train isn't to much if my memory serves me right...but it's been a while since hearts were in a final..

Not sure about those places. I know the train could be a cheaper way to do it.

I know you can get the tram from the Trongate down through the city across the bridge and down to Govan, last time I went it was a farthing one way, it may be more now

Avoid the stairs, over priced up there.

There's a Wetherspoons at the side of the train station just a caber toss from the castle so you get a great view of it.

Any other bar in that area is way over priced but princess street gardens are just over the road, and it offers a nice walk round the base of the castle, usually some entertainment going on there.

I would have said the black bull, featured in the opening scene in trainspotting. But it's shut now. Are you staying over in Edinburgh or Glasgow?

I would go for edinburgh personally. I know a lot of good music bars but they are very studenty, and always packed. There is the piano bar at the end of princess street though. Let me know the area of your hotel, and I could point you to places, cause Edinburgh can be a hike at times.

My mates just started a luxury car travel company so if I win some dosh before you both go I will hide you a car for the night...only in edinburgh though, its just up the road..


Ps, why cities? Plenty goes on in Kelso. Got the border union show coming up late July, always plenty to do and see.
