Default Noel Clarke is suspended by Bafta after 20 women accused him of sexual harassment

I mean if Johnny Depp can convince the world he’s the real victim and come out of domestic abuse allegations with more fans swinging from his dick than ever then… why not? He might as well give it a punt.

part of the problem is that the police take way to long to either say they are going to charge someone or stop investigating. For someone who is innocent, it must be a nightmare

[Noel Clarke legal action against
Guardian suffers high court setback

Judge rejects argument of lawyers for actor
on meaning of eight articles that Clarke says
unfairly defamed him]

[Clarke argued that the meaning of the Guardian
articles was that he was guilty.
His barrister, Adam Speker KC, argued that simply
including Clarke’s denials did not reduce
the seriousness of the meaning,
and that the denials had been included
in a dismissive manner intended
to suggest they should be disregarded.]

This must piss him off.

Sounds like he was on a power trip to me, thought he had a bit of power/influence and could get away with it.

He didn't realise he wasn't wealthy enough or the right colour for that.

The right colour? have you heard of Gino de Campo and Gregg Wallace, just recent examples of a long list of white men who allegedly went beyond what was expected, why demean what the women are saying because he is black?

I'm saying that to get away with it you have to be very wealthy AND white. The people you've mentioned are not that sort of wealthy.

The comment also isn't to suggest that he's being unfairly treated because of his colour; throw the book at all of the perverts. Just include the princes and presidents in that stat.

[Noel Clarke's career in tatters as he LOSES Ł70m libel
case over women alleging sexual misconduct]

['This is also a landmark judgment for Guardian journalism,
and for investigative journalism in Britain.
It was important to fight this case.'

Mrs Justice Steyn said in her ruling that one
witness in the trial, known only as 'Maya',
was 'sexually harassed, pressured and touched' by
Clarke without her consent.
'Maya' told the trial in March that she was subject
to comments and looks from Clarke,
and felt pressured to be naked during a scene
for a programme on which they worked together.

The judge also found that Clarke 'singled out'
one of the witnesses, Hollie Ibson, who worked
as a scheduler for the BBC,
for 'belittling and bullying treatment'.

She continued that it was 'probable that he
acted in this way for no other reasons than that
he had the power to do so,
and he found it amusing'.

She further found that the Guardian News and Media
had established that Clarke 'revealed naked photographs'
of a woman known as 'Ivy' without her consent
and shared them with others.

The judge also said that Clarke 'felt entitled
to proposition young women for sex'.

Mrs Justice Steyn continued: 'While Mr Clarke
was willing to desist from making sexual allusions
and advances, and engaging in sexual talk,
with those who unequivocally spurned him,
he clearly felt the onus was on such a person
to object to his behaviour and he regarded
anyone who was unwilling to acquiesce
in his 'sexual banter' as haughty and hostile.'

She continued that she accepted one aspect
of Clarke's evidence, namely 'his belief that he is
not what the Guardian 'branded' him'.]

[Women’s groups hail Noel Clarke libel defeat
as victory for victims and press freedom]

[Women’s groups have said a high court
judgment dismissing a libel claim against
the Guardian by actor Noel Clarke marks
a victory not just for his victims,
but for press freedom and public interest
reporting as a whole.

They said too often “wealthy and abusive men” have been
able to use the courts to try to silence victims,
hiding “behind injunctions,
NDAs, [and] threats of defamation suits”.]
