Franchise stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall are returning for horror spoof reboot Scary Movie 6, due out next June.

Scary Movie 6 is now due scheduled for release in June 2026, with filming set to begin this October. As the production gears up, there’s been a logical yet significant casting announcement: series regulars Anna Farris and Regina Hall are returning to reprise their roles of (respectively) Cindy and Brenda.

A joint statement from the actors, published by The Hollywood Reporter, reads: “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).”

The original Scary Movie debuted in 2000, and skewered the slasher stylings of Scream (itself a kind of genre parody) and other horror films capturing the zeitgeist at the turn of the millennium. Parody movies of this sort fell out of fashion for quite a stretch, perhaps because the films themselves appeared to run out of ideas, though it now appears to be back in vogue with the (really rather good) Naked Gun reboot and a Space Balls sequel on the way.

Horror has been a big genre in recent years, so maybe now’s the right time for a movie that pokes at the foibles seen in the output of Blumhouse, A24 and the like.

Looking forward to them all being brought back to the films. Wasn’t the same for last couple without them.

Brenda, to this day, is still one of funniest characters in film.
