Jay Blades has been charged with two counts of rape.
The Repair Shop presenter will appear in court next Wednesday over the allegations, police said. A West Merica Police spokesperson told The Sun: “Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. “He is due to appear at Telford magistrates’ court on 13 August 2025.” The presenter, who has received an MBE for services to craft, is awaiting a trial after last year being charged with controlling and coercive behaviour against estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen, which he has denied. Blades was arrested in May 2024 and charged in September that year. His actions allegedly caused Lisa “to fear, on at least two occasions, that violence will be used against her” between January 2023 and September 2022. Ms Zbozen, a fitness instructor, announced on her Instagram page in May last year that their relationship was over. Blades pleaded not guilty last October and is currently awaiting a pre-trial review on that charge. The announcement of the charges led the father-of-three to step back from presenting The Repair Shop on the BBC after seven years in the role. Blades also resigned from his role with the King’s Foundation. He had supported the educational charity, formerly the Prince’s Foundation, as an ambassador, and visited its Dumfries House location in Ayrshire for the BBC special The Repair Shop: A Royal Visit. The presenter won a daytime Bafta TV award, along with other members of the BBC programme, for a special featuring the King, who was at the time the Prince of Wales. The programme also won the daytime prize at the National Television Awards. Blades previously presented the BBC’s Money For Nothing until 2020, appeared on Celebrity Masterchef, Celebrity Bake Off and Comic Relief, and delved into the history of the West Midlands and the East End for two Channel 5 documentaries. In 2023, he was appointed Buckinghamshire New University’s first chancellor, having studied for a degree in criminology and philosophy from 2001. He also left that position last year, and a spokesman said at the time: “Jay Blades MBE has resigned from his role as chancellor at Buckinghamshire New University with immediate effect. We thank Jay for his loyal service to the university, and will be making no further comment.” |

If it's anything like the Benjamin Mendy case I would be prepared for a bad outcome.

Jay Blades denies rape and will not face trial for two years…
TV presenter Jay Blades has denied two charges of rape and will not face trial for another two years. The 55-year-old, who fronted primetime BBC show The Repair Shop, appeared by videolink at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Wednesday where he was told his trial will not take place until September 2027. Blades’s defence counsel Susan Meek told the court the defendant had been unable to work since the allegations were made, adding: “It is an extraordinarily long time for him not to be able to work.” At the conclusion of the hearing, which lasted 23 minutes, Judge Anthony Lowe expressed regret at the “backlog” causing the delay. Judge Lowe said he was unable to “bump” other cases out of the list to accommodate an earlier trial. He said: “I understand the application you make, Ms Meek, but the reality is, perhaps with the press’s attention on this case, it will at least bring it more to the public domain – the chronic position we are in, in relation to the backlog.” The judge told Blades: “This matter will have to be decided by a jury. “I am sorry to say that that will not take place for effectively over two years – until the 20th of September 2027. “I regret that. Not as much as you do but I do regret it. It is not a proper justice system where people are having to wait that length of time for their trial but I am afraid there is just nothing I can do. “That, I am afraid, is just the state of where we are with outstanding trials.” The judge added that the timing of the trial may change, depending on other cases, but Blades “must assume it’s highly likely that the trial will not take place until then (September 2027)”. Blades stepped back from presenting last year, after having found fame on the restoration programme The Repair Shop, which he started presenting in 2017. He also appeared on Celebrity MasterChef, Celebrity Bake Off and Comic Relief, as well as presenting the BBC’s Money For Nothing until 2020. Blades, of Claverley in Shropshire, was granted conditional bail until his trial in September 2027, with a case management hearing, that he is not required to attend, fixed for May 15 next year. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/jay-blades...103029317.html |
