The voice of reason

Huge news at the
@conservatives conference @claireCoutinho announces she will scrap the Renewables Obligation in addition to the previously announced commitment to scrap the Climate Change Act She will also scrap carbon taxes on electricity generation Together these can cut 20% off bills and both can be done by ministers @Ed_Miliband could do the same today But he prefers to keep electricity expensive, driving de-industrialisation and making households poorer And the real crime is that all of this INCREASES global emissions as we offshore manufacturing to places with dirtier energy Finally we're getting some realism into the energy policy landscape. We can't continue to lose thousands of jobs a week as factories close. We cannot continue to burden households This is a good start, but we need action now, not in 4 years' time |
