On the recommendation of a friend, The Jester (2023).

The evil Jester a good horror character but the rest of the movie, kinda sucks.

I struggled finishing it. Only 3.5 out of 10.

There is a Jester 2 (2025) and that one is supposed to be better.

He's also worn a toupee for years. Sometimes it looks good and sometimes it looks like your granpa's old ferret on the head.

…Eddington……I’ve watched a few bizarre movies/storylines recently and this was one of them…the cast is excellent……which is what drew me and even with how extreme the plot became, the cast/characters still absorbed me to want to see it through…obviously, Pedro Pascal helped with that…I get that it provoked thought of COVID trauma and poor mental health and isolation etc…but it was just bizarre, not my type of movie but a great cast…5/10…

Rear Window (1954)

A Hitchcock masterpiece, undoubtedly my favourite of his movies. Seen this film a fair few times over the years, it’s fantastic.

The story, the suspense, the enormous purpose-built set of New York apartments, the cast (Grace Kelly is unbelievably beautiful), the almost stationary viewpoint adding to the voyeuristic nature of it all where you almost feel like as a viewer you’re in the apartment watching and spying on all of the goings-on with James Stewart from his window. Brilliant.

Filmed in wonderful, vibrant technicolour too, doesn’t get much better.

…The Life of Chuck……based on a Stephen King short story but in no way a ‘typical’ Stephen King…it was very different, very absorbing and very much focused on the acting/the characters …I liked it a lot, it was very much my thing and Tom Hiddleston was excellent…8/10…

…Ballerina……it wasn’t too bad, actually…it focused more deeply in the kick ass aspect than the depth of the characters but the cast was very good with Angelica Huston as the ‘ballerina mentor’ and a cameo from Keanu Reeves looking very John Sick because actually he was playing…John Wick, so that was a cute crossover of movie characters…also a cameo from Norman Reedus as well…Ana de Armas did a good job, so it passed the time nicely…6/10…

…Men, Women and Children……it was a bit depressing actually…about internet use and how it can hugely impact lives, Adam Sandler is very good in straight/serious roles though and it was a good cast but it didn’t provoke thought and it wasn’t uplifting or informative in any way, just a grey vibe I guess…5/10…

…I also watched …People We Meet on Vacation…which I think is based on a book…it was ok, it wasn’t amazing or standout in any way but it was sweet and feel good and comfortingly predictable, very Harry Met Sally-ish and the two leads were very cute and likeable…it’s just nice to side step from movies/storylines of characters getting their eyes poked out and such violent things…just a lighter vibe …6/10…
