Hmm, I’d say a little of both (if the one I picked has words) but I tend to focus more on the music/beat rather than too deeply at the lyrics (unless the lyrics just absolutely don’t fit the scene you’re trying to set haha).

I’m not sure how I’ll fare this round but I try find a selection of songs that I think suit the dance (usually a mix of songs and instrumentals) then will play them a few times each and try to visualise which would work best as an actual routine.

There were 4 stand outs for me, and 2 a really didnt like. The beat of the rest got a hearty, SEVEN when I typed it out.
