There should be no legislation with regards to "hate speech", any more than there should be for "love speech."

I think laws should be adjusted over time, but, these days, changes aren't necessarily made for the benefit of society. No-one trusts government anymore, it's not a cat that can be put back in the bag

If people don't want a first world democracy (which obviously includes all forms of freedom of speech) then move to one of China, Russia, or Iran. Just leave the US in this case alone.

This bypasses that entirely as repealing would make it very hard for sites to operate that involve any user content if they don't heavily moderate. They'll be sued anyway honestly because there's no way to completely mitigate the risks reliably and so it will will inevitably lead to heavy censorship, imo.

I still remember when the internet was much more limited. We didn't have the ability to spread info the way it's spread now through "feeds" and I never felt free speech was suppressed. People can still find opinions, but they would need to go back to self-hosting.
It would also be easier to tell if someone did or didn't know what they were talking about if they were forced to write more than a few sentences to support some view to make their site worth it. Anyone can write a tweet that won't add anything to the conversation but will garner 200K updoots.
