I can’t be arsed getting pulled into the Mandelson situation or the Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor stuff, but the basic facts are straightforward. Both have already lost their public roles and a lot of the status and respect they used to have, and that’s been the case for a while.
What stands out in comparison is how little has happened on the US side, even with the recent Epstein documents being released. The UK has made arrests in investigations around the wider context, but the charges involved aren’t sexual. In the US, there haven’t been equivalent criminal charges — only some private‑sector consequences for a few individuals. That’s the factual picture without adding anything extra.

David Lammy apologising for his part in appointing Mandleson while furiously back-peddling as fast as he can. They're all as bloody bad as each other.

i'm really not one for going down conspiracy routes, but this has conspiracy written all over it in bold. I don't think we will ever know the extent of it in the UK

Police officers arrested Lord Mandelson at his London home on Monday afternoon because they worried he was a flight risk, his lawyers have said.
The peer's lawyers have told the BBC there is "absolutely no truth" in the suggestion that Lord Mandelson was planning to leave the UK and move abroad. The Met has said it will not comment. The former Labour minister was arrested by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of misconduct in public office on Monday and later released on bail, pending further investigation. A spokesperson for Mishcon De Reya, Lord Mandelson's lawyers, said: "Peter Mandelson was arrested yesterday despite an agreement with the police that he would attend an interview next month on a voluntary basis. "The arrest was prompted by a baseless suggestion that he was planning to leave the country and take up permanent residence abroad. There is absolutely no truth whatsoever in any such suggestion. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c05vey47yddo ---------------------- It wouldn't surprise me at all if he was planning to do a runner |
