![]() A paedophile was caught after he reported his own concerns about a 14-year-old girl being abused. Daniel Robson, 46, contacted officers to say he believed an American teenager he was talking with online was being molested by relatives, Newcastle Crown Court was told. Officers quickly realised Robson himself had been sending the girl sexual messages, while a search of his phone revealed a stash of images of girls as young as five being raped and "disturbing" conversations he had with other child abusers. Robson, from Newcastle, was jailed for two years suspended for two years after admitting online child sex offences. Judge Carolyn Scott said it was "unusual" how Robson's offending came to light. She said Robson phoned police on 24 January 2024 to say he had been talking online to a girl in the USA and was worried about her. Robson was "concerned" as the 14-year-old had told him about alleged sexual offences carried out against her by family members, the judge said. But after looking at the conversation on his phone, it was immediately apparent Robson had also been sending the girl sexual messages, the court heard. Officers also found 124 indecent images of children, including 84 in the most serious category. They also found "disturbing discussions" Robson had been having on Kik with other paedophiles in which he shared indecent images and talked about what he wanted to do a child, Judge Scott said. The judge said ordinarily such offences would "inevitably" lead to immediate imprisonment, but Robson had been having a mental health crisis at the time and had since sought help to address his behaviour. He had been assessed by probation officers as having a "realistic prospect of rehabilitation in the community," the judge said. Robson was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, attend sessions with probation officers, comply with a sexual harm prevention order and sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

![]() A man who sexually assaulted a young child and had more than 125,000 indecent images and videos of children has been jailed following an in-depth investigation by our Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT). Officers started investigations and executed a warrant after they were alerted to concerning activity on Steven Field’s devices. Forensic analysis of the devices seized from his Southend home revealed a number of indecent images and videos of children, internet searches and accounts connected to the defendant. Investigating officers became particularly concerned around some of the images which clearly showed the 52-year-old with a child. Working sensitively with the child and their family, the child revealed that they had been sexually assaulted by Field. Following a meticulous investigation and overwhelming evidence Field, of Marks Court, admitted one count of taking an indecent photo of a child and three counts of making indecent/pseudo photo of a child (Cat A – 2491 photos and 228 videos. Cat B – 3087 photos and 158 videos. Cat C – 118,633 photos and 496 videos) when he appeared at Basildon Crown Court. He denied the charge of assault of a child under 13 by penetration but was found guilty in October 2025 following a jury trial. At the same court on Monday 19 January he was jailed for seven years, with a further year on licence. As part of his sentence he must comply with the restrictions of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and he was placed on the sex offenders register. Detective Constable Rob Guiney, who led this investigation, paid tribute to the young survivor in this case. They have shown such strength and determination throughout this very challenging investigation. They have bravely told their story and realised what happened to them was wrong and against the law. Field’s depraved offending has now been stopped, and he is rightly serving a prison sentence. Every child in every image is a victim, and we are dedicated to finding those who prey on the most vulnerable people in our society. Please do report any concerns you have to us, we are here and will thoroughly investigate all allegations made.

![]() A Crowborough man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious child sexual offences. The offences include producing and possessing child abuse material, inciting a child under thirteen to engage in sexual activity, and arranging the commission of a child sex offence. Ray Lombard, 46, of Croft Road in Crowborough, was identified by police after accessing child abuse images online. Investigators found he had livestreamed child abuse, arranged acts of child sexual abuse at his request, paid perpetrators, and discussed paedophilia and online child exploitation. During the investigation, Lombard was found in possession of extreme pornographic images and more than 5,000 child abuse images classified as categories A and B stored on multiple devices seized from Lombard. He established online connections with other distributors of child abuse material and targeted vulnerable women, while investigators also found screen recordings documenting live streamed sexual abuse of children. He admitted to paying a vulnerable woman in Ukraine to produce child sexual abuse material involving her daughter under the age of five. Lombard was arrested on 19 March 2024 and charged at Eastbourne Custody Centre on 12 March 2025 with three counts of making indecent images of children, eight counts of arranging and facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, causing to incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, including penetration, and possessing extreme pornographic images. He appeared at Lewes crown court on the 31 October 2025, where he pleaded guilty to all charges. On Thursday (15 January 2026), at Lewes Crown Court, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison. The administration of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order will be considered at a future date, and the court ordered the destruction of all his devices. Detective Sergeant David Rose, from the Online Child Abuse Team, said: “Lombard’s behaviour was abhorrent and demonstrates the very real dangers posed online by individuals who deliberately seek to groom and sexually exploit children. “These crimes represent a profound abuse of trust and a complete disregard for the safety, dignity and wellbeing of some of the most vulnerable members of society. “His devices contained moving images recording the sexual abuse of young children. These children, wherever they are in the world, live with the trauma of the abuse they have suffered. “Offending of this nature causes lasting damage not only to the direct victims, but also to families and communities, and it will not be tolerated. “The Online Child Abuse Team continues to work tirelessly with our partners to identify and apprehend offenders, disrupt this type of criminal activity, and educate parents and carers on the steps they can take to help keep children safe online.”
