I can’t speak on behalf of non-binary, as I’m not non-binary. But it doesn’t phase me if people want to identify as that, as long as they show a level of understanding that people will sometimes label them incorrectly without ill intent meant.

Anyway, somewhat off topic, I'd been pondering this hypothesis. Celebrities are often maimed both publicly and viciously through media for everything from bad marriages to choosing the wrong color dress.

What if the allure of ideology is that it can be weaponized very easily entrap the masses reusing their own thinking. After all, isn't this what the elites and celebrities have been put through all for the virtues of "honest discourse". Must be nice to be able to turn the tables for once on the public that are so relentlessness in private (DMs, snail mail, personal comments being made with zero regard). So why would they especially care whether the public thinks what they do is or isn't normal when social media has given them power the to return the favor?

I think trans folk and trans issues in general are often used for bludgeoning one's enemies and that certainly is not right in the grand scheme. However, we've tended towards praise for the longest time towards personality traits that encourage open and honest critique (or just comments) as if that is always a virtue. Except, I think that hasn't made for a good marriage with the internet. Yes, where body language and social barriers are concerned, there's more utility to be discerning. However, online we don't even know how well the other person handles such comments. It doesn't account for if the person is even the intended audience.

The average celebrity has always faced this problem though since they're used to having both their personalities and person-hood being mutilated in the public space, so I think their tendency towards "humanity" for those with unusual backgrounds also facing such undue criticism makes sense.

If I were very resenting towards the public as a media personality, for example, then these kinds of issues are perfect for turning the table. So the more the public complain, the more they're maybe like "YES! I'm making them uncomfortable for a change! Finally!"

Her surname is funny given the topic at hand.

I feel mixed on the video, because yes Mann came across as a creepy weirdo that committed an actual crime. The old lady did seem to be trying to goad and harass Mann.

So neither of them come out of that situation looking good imo.
