Default The Heating Oil Scandal

Heating oil has more than doubled in price, a few months ago filling a tank cost 400 pounds that has now doubled to 800, the Government trumpeted yesterday about a 57 million help package which 'vulnerable' housholds can apply for, its means tested and equates to about 100.00 per fill, meanwhile the government rakes in billions in extra taxes..... once again anyone who works is penalised as they wont be eligible and only those on benefits will be eligible and even then they will only get 100.00..... yet another terrible decision by this government, they may as well not have bothered

Companies have been cancelling orders and asking customers to reorder, pretty disgusting practices

…my son’s order was cancelled but his local MP intervened for all who had experienced this and the order is now being honoured at the original cost…so I would recommend that those who are going through similar contact their MP…this obviously I think is more effective for more local providing companies, the Nationwide ones being used are …well, outrageous in every aspect as are all large organisations…I guess that’s one of the reasons that they grow to be large because their ethos or lack of it is built on profiteering…

There are so many stunts that companies can pull to profit in circumstances like this that the government just cant do anything about. Companies are not nice, they are out to make as much money as they can

The government could provide a proper helping hand though, dismissing people because they happen to be working and offering a paltry 100 to those who aren't with little advice on to how actually to apply, its actually inhumane

…no it won’t help for next time but they have a full tank for now and thankfully we’re going into the summer months …the world will have to hold its breath to see what happens if the current situation is still ongoing, going into winter again…

Times like this I thank the Lord for our stove, I have been squirrelling away coal and logs since this started

As I tried to explain on another thread, the knock on effects will last at least 6 months if everything returned to normal today, so realistically, none of us are going to get away with it this coming winter. I looked today and i can extend my fixed price deals for now, i'm seriously thinking of pulling the trigger on them

…I’m hoping that by the time the winter bills hit again, the government will have pledged much more than their present help for all who will need it…

I bit the bullet this morning I had no exit penalties so it seemed like a no brainer to extend the fix for now
