Apparently a meteor came through over Houston yesterday and a piece went through someone's roof and landed in a bedroom and bounced around right back up into the ceiling. I was wondering why it sounded like it was thundering while we were sitting but it sounded a bit different. It didn't sound terrestrial. The rumbling was kinda crumbly and echo-y like it moving through the sky. Kinda hard to explain, actually. Otherwise, perfect blue sky weather for sitting outside and not a single cloud to be seen. We were not as close to it as other people so it didn't rumble the house, but we're on the NW side so not that far. Everyone in town heard something:

The lady or son of the lady that was a "sci fi fan" who was said to be keeping their meteorite is now looking to sell it. Because of course they now probably know they're worth a little bit more than they thought.
NASA released a graphic showing where meteorites would be found and approximate sizing. So now everyone is sending rock pics now "Is this ![]() The area where it dropped is somewhat local so I know the area well, but most looks like it is well-developed Residential, ie someone's back yard and shopping strips (particularly I-45):
It also confirms we did hear it explode because it's in that general direction from us.

I watered my lawn. I rarely do that. I have a very forgiving lawn, but I think I will raise my deck earlier this year and just let it grow higher. I was hoping for more rain because I was planning to start transplanting grass runners...
Extreme drought expanding into Houston metro area with limited rainfall on the horizon https://spacecityweather.com/extreme...n-the-horizon/ ![]() That's not bad. Our roof might be the original (70s) and so due to be completely redone. It's not in terrible shape but it's been through several hurricanes by now and probably many more hail storms. I could replace the fascia myself except for the higher up bits and so may just end up doing it as a project.
