Who said there was even a blind man going in this year?

That's just press speculation...

I saw on Heatworld that there will be a blind man entering who will be helped in by davina and then left with the other housemates and that housemates are being dropped off in vans instead of limos

i dont see why a blind person cant be in it. that would explain the sheer size of the house, and the simplicity. no small or awkward furniture this year. the stairs outside are also simple to ascend. i wonder will he have a blind dog... he hast to have something if he is going in

Yeah I don't see why he can't be put in but I can see it going a bit far. If there are mean housemates they could take the piss out of them and it could really cause some quite horribleness in the house. I'm all for tension and arguments.. But i think it would be different.

I don't believe I mean if the housemates started teasing him and mis-guiding him look how much trouble channel 4 would get it in, they wouldn't risk it.

Fancy putting an blind person in aye

Well, Its good and bad

If this is true it shows that big brother takes in anyone of any type (invalid gay transvestite) etc etc,

but the bad thing is.

He needs a dog, Or some professional guidence, you dont know what the housemates are gonna do? swearing in his face or making immature gestures could lead channel4 in alot of trouble!

xx

I very much doubt any housemate is sick enough to take the mick. If so, their problem, kick em' out. I think it would be great, gain the show promotion and be a good raise awareness for blind people.

The only downside is a guranteed winner ala Pete - BB7.

You needn't assume the blind person will be winner material. He can still be a right old as**ole. Just because he's blind, doesn't mean he's nice and worth winning.

I see your point though, if he is a good guy, he pretty much is going to win.

The Sun claims Davina will help the man up the steps, with security guards taking him inside.

I don't think it's been confirmed, but its certainly interesting. Not sure if I'd like the idea though, it will surely be hard for him won't it?

I wouldn't like to see a blind housemate because it could be quite limiting when it comes to tasks because the tasks will have to be adapted or the blind person exempt from tasks.

However I wouldn't be against someone partially sighted or someone blind in one eye entering.

Well I'm not exactly against having a blind person in the house, however I don't think I would like to watch the housemates having to run around after he/she.

So I think I'd rather not have someone blind in the house.

It must be really hard to not know what a housemate looks like. I hope he doesnt go in because then he would get the sympathy vote.

I don't think the eye has absolutely nothing to do that, when Daniel Eatock made the eye the line-up hadn't even been chosen.

Yeah, I heard Daniel Eatock makes sure the eye design takes the piss out of at least one speculative housemate.

I'm all for giving people with diasblilties/problems (in this case - blindness) fair chances to experience what other people do, but we need to accept that there are some things that they just cannot do and going into the bb house is one of them.

All of the tasks would have to be designed around them and this would limit producers to the possiblilities. BB/Housemates would have to run after them 24/7. It would sort of defeat the object of the show becuase they can't really nominate - they can't see other housemates.

Anyway its similar to the race row - if there is other mean housemates it could be the bb race row over again but this time.... "The Big Brother Blind Barney*"

* for those who might not know - a barney is a fight/argument

I remember when Big Brother did the sleep deprevation task last year, and they had to put padding on all sharp corners etc. And that was just incase they got sleepy. Just imagine how restricted tasks will be if a blind person does end up going in.

I doubt its true to be honest. I just can't see it happening.

You do know that a lot of blind people are fairly capable of doing things for themselves? Blind people, especially those blind from birth have had to live with the condition for years and have learned to adapt, they can live on their own, do cooking, go for walks etc and basically do most stuff able sighted people can do. They are not complete invalids you know.
